passing stats. I guess the Tigers are waiting until the right time to start passing down the middle of the field. One pass 10+ yards in the middle and it was dropped.

especially after watching the LA Tech QB repeatedly burn our DBs down the middle of the field. Are you seriously telling me that our OL cannot protect DJ long enough to get a receiver down the middle of the field who can get separation on a LA TECH DB??
I am thankful for Will Shipley.

I said that during the game last night. We do not utilize between the hash marks to our slot receivers or TE's. UGA has a field day with the crossing patterns.

Ugas offense so far has been centered around their Tight ends

And in very creative ways. Jet sweeps, crossing patterns and deep balls all involving the tight end. I can’t see anyone stopping them once they start working everything else in.

We don’t have a OC that is creative like Monken. We are running the same old plays we have been calling for the last several years. I watch other OC’s with less talent than we have call plays and say. Why can’t our OC call plays like that.

Look at the position of the incompletions. A 20 yard pass to the sideline is not a high percentage pass. DJ has been much more accurate this year. A crossing pattern or post pattern would be an easier throw to begin with.
I'll have to say that I like the analogy, but it just doesn't fit in this situation.

stands - we just don't throw the ball over the middle very well. I don't know whether it is bad play design, receivers taking bad routes, or the QB not looking. In any case it is more than obvious after 3 games that the middle of the field must be a lava field our receivers cannot cross.
When a defensive back knows the majority of our WR routes are going to be within 10 yards of a sideline that greatly simplifies their coverage (maybe one of the reasons for our lack of separation). I thought we had a coach in charge of developing our passing game?? If we can only throw and catch balls near a sideline he is failing at his job...

It also makes the game so much easier for their LBs

when they don't have to worry about coverage. I remember good OCs would always try to attack Ben Boulware over the middle by isolating him against RBs and TEs.
By completely neglecting the middle of the field, it seems like we are just inviting LBs and safeties to aggressively attack the LOS.

Wake is gonna be caught unprepared when Streeter has DJU complete 7 or 8 passes over the middle. Time to unveil our conference game offensive scheme! (GT doesn’t count, they are turrible.)

La Tech played alot of Tampa 2, that's designed to take away the 10+ yards over the middle

Def disappointing but throwing over the middle
Sep 19, 2022, 12:31 AM
|
|
for 10 and plus yards leads to alot if tipped balls that result in interceptions. I don't think dj has the iq and very least vision to see if a backer or ss is gonna bite on bait to allow that receiver to be 1 on 1. And to reiterate,. the chances of a tipped ball turning into the interceptions of last year are phenomenally high. See last year. Trust in the play calls and player production from djs strengths.

Re: It's not just this year........we haven't attacked MOF

since I don't know when...maybe 3 seasons ago? With the exception of Williams, we don't have anyone capable of creating any separation.
We don't throw to TE's anymore in MOF, so I have no idea what that's all about.
Another issue is the route trees: This smells a lot like Dabo is getting involved in the offense. Route trees are stale and predictable---defenses always try to force things to the outside.

Look at the chart against ga tech and Furman. I tried to copy and paste them but couldn't for some reason. I was going to try and post all 3 games. Someone posted about DJ and lack of going to the left, unless it's behind the Los.
We don't run any crossing routes. Take a long time to develop, is that why?
On a side note, looked like ej Williams quit on the route over the middle on cades pass. Still at that, went right through his hands.

Thanks for posting that, it's very interesting. I'll have to say that Morgan Thomas has been doing some good work and posting helpful charts this season.
