Stopped watching Nascar a few years ago. France family dicked it all up. Over complicated a good thing, took fun out of racing and let wusses take over etc etc. would like to get back into it but between coot brothers, logano, Hamlin and Brad k, I feel like my niece could beat up half the drivers these days. Not the same sport it once once. Not the same as it once was.

Unfortunately that's what these Fortune 500 companies want behind the wheel and representing their companies. What they say goes. Which you have to have them to be able to go racing. Which also falls on NASCAR cause it's so flippin expensive to put a car on the track, cause they made it that way. The days of good ole boys building a car and qualifying for a race are over. It's a multi billion dollar operation, strictly business, not pure racing like it use to be.

It's amazing how you guys who slam the drivers and the sport have no clue about the lower level cart races, open wheel racing and the rest which push these guys to the top. It's not just "corporate America" throwing these guys into the cars, they are freaking professionals and best at what they do.

Men as a while have been pushed into these feminine roles of being nice and pretty. It's not NASCAR, it's society pushing this p-ussyfooting ways.

writing the rules in pencil, then erasing them to benefit one team and let THIRTEEN drivers(including all from that team) in a TWELVE man chase. Sorry that was a bit too blatant a sign of favoritism.

Real racing, no restrictor plates, real differences and competition between Ford and GM and Chrysler, no gimmicks, colorful likeable drivers, etc....

Except its not...

Toyota Ford and Chevy teams have been working with each other a ton the past few years. Hell a theme during the race was the different manufacturers working together.

Holy hell dude the manufacturers are not working together the teams within the manufacturers are working together... aka the Chevys working with other Chevys the Fords working with other Fords etc...

that is creating competition between Ford and Chevy and Toyota. That is what he said no longer existed which is blatantly false.

Minus the Engines which is a pretty big deal and Front ends yes...

NASCAR in the name of safety and as a way to help out smaller teams has made the rest of the cars very similar.

Mike Helton Three Stage 500

Gosh, was that not a mess this afternoon???? Whoever come up with this format for the 2017 season needs to have their head put in a vise and squeezed flat. How can any team have a viable strategy to win and have a good run broken up by a mandatory caution. It took them almost 270 minutes to complete a race that should have taken no more than three hours.

This is a lot like college football nowadays. It takes almost four hours to complete sixty minutes of play. TV has gotten too much in the way. I know the schools get a boo-koodle amount of revenue for their exposure on Saddy afternoons, but racing is professional sport akin to NBA/NFL/MLB. I love watching MLB because the networks cannot force a TV time-out to sell ###### or Big Macs.
The game has continuity. I do not see other racing sanctioning bodies going to this format. If they do, break out some more vises.

Wouldn't y'all just love to see the SEC bring in medical personnel for their teams to get treatment for exhaustion and corn-dog cramps when playing us, especially when they whine "it isn't fair!!!"

You serious clark?

The 3 stages was a over whelming positive from most everything I read online.

How could you not enjoy the way the drivers went after it on those laps?

The race took a while due to the actual cautions not the stage cautions. Blame hacks like Jamie McMurray for the race taking forever not the stages.

The stages also allow TV to take commercial breaks much like TV timeouts in Basketball.

Also the second stage was on lap 120 out of 200. There were numerous cautions after this point so the "broke up strategy" arguement kinda goes away. Not to mention the stages ADDED to strategy with some teams pitting earlier and some pitting later to try and set themselves up best for lap 60 and 120.

The only new rule that needs to be trashed is the 5 minute clock. Just raise the min speed requirements but allow teams to work on the cars as much as they want. Keep the body replacement ban in place though.

Yep many of the cars were trying their best to conserve fuel at the end. That is why it went from cars all over the place to a straight line for a few laps.

Larson I think also ran out.

I too was pulling for Chase grew up a Bill fan with my dad.
