BYU's new NIL deal for its college football team feels like a good thing, but there's reason to be skeptical.


This changes everything if this is where NIL is going. I was curious who would make the first move. I travel to Utah quite a bit for my job and there is a lot of money in the LDS church - not saying this company is LDS connected, but probably.

Interesting point about paying taxes on tuition since it is technically income and not tuition.

How long before a lot more schools start copying this? Scholarship limit just went out the window. This may be like the old days when Bama had all the great players consolidated on one team.

I’m not sure why not. It was obvious this was going to happen from the start.

No salary caps, no regulating. It’s just a free for all out there. You’re going to have boosters going to high schools and maybe even JV games soon to push kids to sign with schools.

yep when the OH St AD was put on the program to come up with something you knew it would be wide open grab all you can. That guys resume there tells all you need to know. scandal ridden in a variety of sports
