Is the BIG12 screwed ?

Jul 30, 2020, 12:03 PM

If everyone follows the ACC's lead and plays 10 conference teams, does that put the BIG12 behind the 8 Ball ?

They are planning for a full 12-game schedule

I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me.

I wouldn't think it would be too difficult for Big 12 teams to schedule 1 more game with an independent or FCS team. They are probably really scrambling right now for revenue sources.

They could partner with BYU the same way the ACC included ND.

Hadn't thought of that

It was just a few years ago everyone was talking about B12

expansion to include BYU and Houston. Maybe time for a revisit? Texas schools would still probably be opposed to Houston.

Re: Is the BIG12 screwed ? What about the PAC 12?

Yes, and they have been screwed for years. Mostly because of Texas. And accepting WVU is desperation. And Texas. And the more Texas hobbles them, the more OU wins.

My guess is that they're waiting to see what happens w/ the SEC

Jul 30, 2020, 1:46 PM

as there are the following matchups between the 2 leagues scheduled for this season: Baylor-Ole Miss, Vandy-Kansas St, Tennessee-Oklahoma, and Texas-LSU. Seeing as they've already lost the rest of their OOC marquee games, I'm sure that they're hoping the SEC will keep a +1 schedule that'll have those remaining games.

I could see the Big 12 eventually going to a +1 or maybe a +2 where they work w/ G5 & FCS schools to fill the schedule outside the 9 conf games. Maybe even work out an agreememt w/ BYU & the other independents (primarily Army).
