negative even though I knew for a fact I had COVID.
But, reading reputable websites, the human body will 'kick back in' if the virus attacks it again to produce the antibodies. Basically, your body 'remembers' how to start producing the antibodies again. Of course, that is only for the strain I had. God knew what He was doing when He created us.

Negative tests are not really "negative".
It is a failed test. The test failed because either it was a "true negative" or that the test failed to detect antibodies that were present. Same "test" result but that is how you have to read it as a testing failure. Fun facts! Of course, there are false positive too.

Approximately a month after I had COVID, I gave blood and received a 'positive' COVID antibodies test. I subsequently donated plasma.
The second blood donation happened right at 90 days after my bout with COVID that produced the 'negative' COVID antibodies test.

Me too , except I caught it early last year in April . Taking my 1st one next Thursday in Ga , and the Moderna is the one they have there . Heard on the web that if you've gotten Covid ahead of the shot it could mean a worse reaction to the 1st shot in some , but not all . Hoping I don't fall out ??

Dug .... if you have had Covid, the first should could give you a reaction, as the antibodies from having Covid are attacking the new "invader" in your body. That means it is working. Also that is why some people have a reaction to their second shot. Some feel, including a friend of mine who worked for Pfizer and now the parent company of Moderna, think that one shot is enough.

It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
Honestly, if getting vaccinated will help expedite a return to normalcy sooner rather than later, including capacity crowds at Death Valley, I'm all in favor of it.
I had the Pfizer vaccine a couple of weeks ago. Other than some soreness in my arm, I did not experience any other residual effects. That said, I did not specifically select the Pfizer vaccine. It just happened to be the one that was available to me the fastest.

I received the Moderna Vaccination. Had a little redness and a small, very small amount of pain in my arm for about 24 hours. No different then the FLU vaccination.

The one that is available the soonest.
Should you get one - Absolutely.
All vaccines can produce an immune response like 76's wife so that side effect is common but not universal to all that get it.
Moderna uses 100gm injections to Pfizers 30 grams so some folks have a bit more soreness from that one because of the larger injection.
And for the J&J, it works well and they are even testing the effect of a follow booster (2nd shot) for that. While Moderna and Pfizer both have something like 94%+ efficacy with two doses, their single shot does does offer something between 60-80% protection which is slightly less than the J&J per the single dose. Still, the comparisons are apples to oranges as both Pfizer/Moderna looked to stop symptomatic cases only, J&J looked at preventing severe cases and has more data about those other variants.
I think eventually the seasonal flu shot will be a combo Covid booster/flu shot into the future once they get that testing rolling.

My arm was never sore from the 1st Pfizer shot. I didn't realize the difference between Pfizer's and Moderna's amount of vaccine given. Will be getting the 2nd Pfizer on April 7.

Not sure there is a BEST. My wife and I got the 2 shot Phizer vaccine and neither of us had any side effects. It was a non-event for us. How you react to the vaccine has a lot to do with your genetic makeup and your personal immune system. There is some data coming out now regarding which vaccines are most effective against certain variant strains of the original COVID-19 virus.

Here are some facts for you to consider:
Mar 19, 2021, 10:01 AM
|
|
J&J is 66% effective, but that’s 66% effective at preventing you from contracting the virus. It’s 100% effective in preventing hospitalization and death from COVID.
The Pfizer vaccine is 95% in preventing you from getting the virus and 100% effective in preventing hospitalizations and death.
The Moderna vaccine is 94% in preventing you from getting the virus and 100% effective in preventing hospitalizations and death. It’s also 3x the dose per each shot. It’s 100 micrograms to Pfizer’s 30mcg. That means they're using 3Xs the vaccine with no added benefit. Why insert that much medicine into your body if not necessary
Also, there is clinical evidence that the J&J vaccine is effective in preventing the new strands of the virus.

I got both shots of Moderna and had no side effects at all. I am 64 years old. Personally, I think everyone should get it. All the people who don't trust it and don't want to get it, want to benefit from the herd immunity that others produce, yet they don't want to help produce it. This virus will not go away unless the majority of people get the vaccine. I am tired of wearing a mask and not having social gatherings. Line up and do your part!

The Catholic Church has suggested you get the Pfizer or Moderna over the J&J vaccine due to aborted-fetal stem cell use in the J&J.
I am not Catholic so I will not take a stand. But, if I have my choice, I would get the Pfizer.

It depends

If you are high risk, then get the 2 shot. My parents got the Moderna with no side effects, my wife got the Pfizer but she only has the first shot, no side effects so far.
I got the J&J one shot. That night I slept terrible. The next day I felt crappy, but not enough to stay in bed so I worked. I slept better the next night. Yesterday morning, I was fine. A little tylenol helped.
But from what I read, any shot is better than none. For me, I know of 4 ~55 year olds that passed away from it. So I took it when I got the chance.
BUT, it's your personal choice. There should be no judgement.

I think you would be very foolish to decline the “shot” if it is offered to you regardless of your age. Their will be like or no reaction to either.
The cooperation between the medical communities in developing these injections is to be applauded by everyone. What normally would take years has been developed in months.

Pfizer and Moderna were shown to be more effective in clinical trials. This is obvious from the data.
What is misleading is saying that Johnson & Johnson's vaccine is equivalent to Pfizer and Moderna - because it isn't.
As I said in my previous post, any vaccine is much better than no vaccine.

Actually, single dose of each three would make J&J potentially more effective (within the range). Later reseach does show that J&J might actually be better than advertised but Pfiser might be a few points low. However, the testing goals were slightly different. So one can infer efficacy windows by not deduce true differences - that would take even more study.
However, I know that the "booster" or second shot is in testing for J&J but having an effective 1-shot only was deemed very important for general herd resistance. J&J did extremely well so the decision to move forward and have a 3rd one-shot option was a strategic choice.
But yes, you are correct that the trials of two-dose Pfizer/Moderna were 90/94%+ effective at preventing symptomatic Covid (not variant test). Even then, different case groups say a window of between 85% and 97% for Pfizer so that overlaps with J&J but they skew from 75-95%
Of course all three are equally as effective (or really, "no identified difference" between the three at preventing hospitalizations/death.
However, the results might be a little off - not much but Pfizer might be a little less. 47% effective after one dose (at 2 weeks) and then 92% after two doses.

And just to clarify about my comment about J&J being potentially more effective:
72% -bottom floor efficacy in the US . The J&J has more older participants and more participants with other health conditions. Thus they had a more at-risk sample population and would have more compromised immune responses.
Thus why I would say the J&J looks to be potentially more efficient if you try to account for the sample populations.

I had the 2nd Moderna shot two weeks ago. That evening my muscles ached like I had the flu. That night I had a slight fever. I was taking Tylenol every four hours. The next morning I felt fine. My wife took the shot at the same time and had no side effects.
