FSU travel expenses to increase $1.74 million in Big 12

This is from Warchant:
"Russell Wright, Managing Director of Collegiate Consulting, Inc., estimates that Florida State would see its travel budget increase as much as 40 percent with the move from the ACC to the Big 12. According to Florida State's projected athletic budget for the current 2011-12 academic year, Florida State is slated to spend $4.36 million on team travel for its 18 varsity sports. A 40 percent increase on that would amount to about a $1.74 million bump in travel costs."

I think it's safe to say Clemson will have similar numbers. The increased revenue of about $10 million (conservative numbers) will leave us with a bottom line of $8 million increase.

As we are closer to ACC schools than they are.
If the B12 pays for travel as some have said, it would be interesting to know how much money would be added first to take our schools out west and bring the western schools east.

Not pay for travel. Alluded to helping with travel based on miles traveled.

Swoffie's interview with Hood

Swoffie said ACC pays for travel to conference tourneys. I wonder if the FSU analysis simpy considered additional cost due to extra miles to travel or if it also added costs the ACC pays (such as travel expenses to tourneys) which the Big XII likely does not. This would be an substantial increase in travel costs with Big 12 membership.
Swofford made some good points in the interview and the fact the ACC pays for travel to conference tourneys was one of them.

Is "somebodies" a TNET-ism, or did you mean somebody's?

leave for Big 12 at once if everyone could just have an open discussion about it. Too bad that cannot happen. I'd prefer not to leave the ACC, but that's the way it is. It's interesting that if the ACC had it's mid tier teams having recent success instead of the Big 12's, it would be UT, OU, etc. trying to get into the ACC. Bad timing for ACC to have a slump. A slump that Clemson is largely to blame. We didn't pick it up when FSU went down. Instead Tommy Bowden brought us and the conference embarrassment in the GA Dome. It's fascinating to look back on that game and you clearly see one program headed for championships and the other struggling to find itself.

From a business stand point that's a good investment, we all should wish for such a return on our money Get $10 million spend $2 million net $8 Million That's almost as good % gain as microsoft when I bought it in 1990
