Our OL is an issue year after year and it has yet to be changed.

I think Caldwell retires after the bowl game.

Nothing against Coach Caldwell! In fact, I thank him for his service to Clemson.

But, i.m.o our OL play for years was covered up because of the up tempo we ran. Those big DL on the other teams just got tired eventually and we took advantage.

As we started using less and less tempo - "it showed"!

If you don't have an up-tempo offense you had better have a good OL that can control or better yet win the line of scrimmage!
College football is turning into something different - and many of today's players don't have the patience to wait and learn. Do we bring in some coach who has coached in the NFL in order to attract the upper tier OL I don't know. I just know - or OL talent has to improve in order to keep up with the upper echelon of the sport.
We can be good to okay with an average line - "if that's what the fan base wants"! If we want to be among the best we need significant improvement along the OL, period!
If we won't run more up-tempo to help our OL out - we have to upgrade the raw ability of the OL.

Maybe Coach Caldwell can adapt and relate to these younger kids! IDK. We'll see!

Go Tigers!

The people whining about Caldwell, will be the same ones whining when he leaves. They simply want someone to agree with them.

Wiki has him retired former Clemson OL coach, if that means anything. His time has passed, he knows one thing and it has been showing for a long time. Coach V evolved and last week talked about having flexible guys who could do many things so they weren’t locked into a set by personnel only, and the new OL’s we see these days have to be able to protect the pocket in the spread. In all of Caldwell’s tenure we’ve had one great center and one sorta ok center and the rest have barely held the spot. Remember the kid from Mauldin High who got death threats? Caldwell failed that kid and washed his hands of it. We have long succeeded despite his average Oline.
