Interesting article. One interesting side note was that a freshman on that team, Carley Hoover, who eventually transferred to LSU, is the daughter of the former Clemson volleyball coach Jolene Hoover. She had a great Daniel HS and college career and was the pitcher for the Simpsonville team that won the little league World Series about a dozen years ago. Too bad Clemson didn't have a softball team much sooner as there has been a lot of talent around here for a long time.

I understand Coach Hoover was the one that brought Rittman to DRads attention during the hiring process. That’s note worthy because when you read this article it sounds like a situation Clemson would have steered clear of for a new program. However, credit Clemson for doing the homework and giving Rittman the opportunity.

It is a perception of our schedule and the talent in the ACC. Yes there is SEC bias but here it is probably earned as the programs are storied. Again not defending it but I don’t think it has anything to do with the coach.

If you’re looking at it simply from a marketing perspective (which they occasionally do for teams hosting from the north). Wouldn’t it be smart to not screw over the brand new program that everyone in the fan base is excited about?

I have personally known a few male college softball coaches, and it seems like they have a tendency to be some of the biggest weirdos on the planet.
Again, I’m not saying that about Rittman because I don’t know him. But I have noticed a pattern in his profession.

Not sure how the seeding works in the Softball tourney but what I surmise from comparing it to March Madness seeding it appears that we are ranked about 30th. That just doesn't sound right. Best remedy for being snubbed is to prove it on the field. Go Tigers!

First of all, to the original question, Coach Rittman is extremely well liked and respected by his peers, administrators, former players, and everyone who has worked with him. If fact, he is probably one of the best liked SB coaches in the Power 5. Clemson is extremely lucky to have him, and he has assembled an incredible staff!
My daughter had the privilege to play for him at Stanford, and he was then, and is now, an incredible coach as well as an awesome person, who cares about, and is a great leader of young women student athletes. The situation at Stanford was an absolute embarrassment for their AD, who was new at his job, and was swayed by few disgruntled parents of girls that were not playing as much as their parents wanted (and frankly were not good enough to play more). It was a classic modern day little league parent takeover. I know that Coach Rittman did absolutely NOTHING to deserve his treatment, but true to his character, he has stayed above the fray, and chooses to look ahead.
Dan Radakovich made a great decision to hire him, and what this staff and team has done in the first full year of competition is nothing short of miraculous. My daughter and her former teammates stay in touch with Coach, and he is always there to help them in their careers.
Finally, Clemson did get screwed in the seedlings/pairings. Our schedule strength is understandable when you consider COVID cancellations, and first year scheduling. But I can assure you that this team and coaching staff will be a very tough opponent this weekend. We are capable of beating anyone in a short series, and they have already made Clemson fans very proud!
