i listen to mickey every morning. he is a friend. i can assure you he never said the coots will lose 2 games. the best he has ever done for them is 6-6 or 7-5. where do you people come up with your bullsh!t,

Not sure, they say they are improved. They did get 7 transfers from SEC schools, but they also lost 2 of their best players to the portal.

They lost a lot but so did the coots. The coots, in my opinion, will be about the same as last year. They will think they will be the National Champions because their first 3 or 4 games are against cupcakes. They may even get ranked but only because they are in the SEC. Then the real teams will show up.

This game will depend on what version of Clemson shows up. Our defense will be fine and even though GT has improved, they will shut down Ga Tech for the most part.
Our running game should be able to win this game by itself. Grind the ball, work the clock, no turnovers, and get points in the red zone every trip. Should lead to a comfortable win.
But let's be honest, we want to see more out of this offense this year and I think game 1 is big for DJ. I believe he has the skills to be a great QB, but he is going to have to improve a lot versus last year to take us where we all want to see our Tigers go.
I am expecting our O-line to be much improved over last year. However, O-line has never been one of our strengths so DJ is going to have to be able to move around the pocket and extend plays when needed. Last year it looked like he had concrete shoes at times.
In order to get to the playoffs and win we need exceptional QB play.
2016 - DW 35 TD with 13 INT with QB passer rating 156
2018 - TL 30 TD with 4 INT with QB passer rating 157
2019 - Burrow 41 TD with 6 INT with QB passer rating 202
2020 - Jones 41 TD with 4 INT with QB passer rating 203
2021 - Bennett 29 TD with 7 INT with QB passer rating 177
DJ's QB rating in 2021 was 109 while his rating was 146 in 2020.
My thoughts are DJ is on a short leash this year. We have a championship level defense, now we need the offense to catch up.
Whoever our QB ends up being, if they finish with 30+ TD, less than 10 INT, and a passer rating of 150+ it could be a really special year.

Totally agree with your assessment of the Tigers. It Is ALL about the guy under center. I think scheduling GT for the opening game in Atlanta was a good move. Our team ‘should’ beat GT but how the victory happens will tell us a lot. I wish the Tigers had a better opponent than Furman for the next game But that may be plus also. GT will be ready to play Clemson. I can’t wait. Go DJ!

To be fair, we don’t make the schedule and we didn’t schedule GT first game of the year. We schedule the opponents but have no say in the schedule, that’s the ACC office.

Well, that's up for opinion, of course. But, in theory, they should be improved. They're in year four of Coach Collins' tenure, and they also added numerous transfers for the upcoming season, Some can argue they already showed improvement last year. Although their Won-Loss record didn't improve. they lost several close games they could have won (touchdown or less difference). They are also playing in Atlanta; theoretically, a home game. We also ended up having a close game with them last year ourselves.
However, I think our team will be much improved and will win the game comfortably. The best the Jackets can expect is to not be overly embarrassed in defeat. Just MHO.

That would be an incredible feat! 500 yards while he’s face down on the turf all night while the likes of Bresee, Thomas, Henry toss him around like a rag doll? That would indeed be impressive. 150 yards passing max and that’s only because a few chunk plays from busted back end coverage.

If not we're in trouble.
They have Jeff Simms at QB. GT isn't a good football program and there's no reason to think they're turning the corner this season.
Perspective: Tommy Bowden's Clemson teams would have beaten Jeff Collin's GT teams handily.

The only way they stay in the game is with aid from an unknown. Turnovers. Without any gifts from the tigers the bees get a big ol whooping. 41-10. Remember , the tigers will be playing with a chip on their shoulder most of the year and the jackets get the first taste

openers under Dabo. Conservative, fundamental plays with a big emphasis on no turnovers, at least on offense. If we cover the spread (-28?) it will happen on late GT turnovers.
So there will be some trotting involved in this one for sure, with the occasional sprint needed. I see a 27-10 kind of thing transpiring and not in hand until later game.
