iptay parking

Apr 3, 2015, 7:44 AM

Got my season ticket application. Where i have been parking for over 15 years has been moved up from IPTAY level to JERVEY level. $1400 more per year. Guess I'll get moved. My seat equity has been bumped from $400 to $450. I have 315 points. This past year there were new folks parking near me,1st year iptay members, guess they made a big contribution. Oh well when you retire and your income goes down I guess you will gradually squeezrs out.

It's all about the money.

Looks like the next few years will bring big changes to the levels and what you get.

With the dollars being put into facilities the price of admission and parking are going to change.

As long as we are winning, people will pay, but....it can always change and you'll have plenty of empty seats.

Yea, that's the way they do it. After getting pushed further and further away from the stadium through the years, I finally started using public parking that's better than my IPTAY parking. I went from being about a quarter mile from the stadium to being a mile away. And I've noticed there are a bunch of empty IPTAY spots on my way to the stadium, I assume being held in reserve for people willing to fork over more cash. Go figure.

Same here. IPTAY level. 200+ points. 45 years in IPTAY. Very frustrating.

When I tell my PITT friends what parking costs here..they cannot believe it. Most lots around Heinz Field cost less than $50.00 even for Steeler games.

Things change, but my experience has been that if you have your space, and continue the giving classification that got that space, you will not lose it, even though the current giving level to qualify for that space may have increased. Check with the ticket manager.

Not true. We were moved out of lot 1 last yr because the giving level for that lot changed.
We had been in that lot for years and had not decreased our IPTAY contributions.

You can hang onto seats if you give enough to meet their minimum per seat. Parking is different. It is based solely on giving level and points. If someone gives more they can take your spot. If someone gives the same but has more points they can take your spot. Happens every year. People are bumped all the time. Some to a different lot. Some to a different space in the same lot. If someone likes your parking location and can bump you all they have to do is request your spot by number.

I have been kicking around for several years now giving up my tickets and parking. Especially at tax time when I am gathering financial information and see what I spent on IPTAY and tickets. The best financial situation is to buy an off campus parking spot and buy tickets from all of the sellers. There are always good seats available. Also, I'm not "all in" when it comes to spending money on a Dave & Busters type football facility. Yes, I know other schools do it too. I would rather donate my money to other causes. Still, it will be hard to give up the IPTAY and tickets.

You can write your tickets off on your taxes?
