Interesting bit in the press conference tonight

Feb 12, 2023, 8:46 PM

the aviation today journo asked about the how the type of missile used could detect a heat signature via IR lock when the military said the object had no apparent means of propulsion. The General gave some fumbling explanation of locking in on IR contrast, but ### is producing the heat if there is no propulsion?

Any missile experts care to weigh in?

Yes, if there are electronics on board there will be a discernable heat (IR) signature of those electronics compared to the 'cold' background.
