Defense wins football games. No question about that. Third down conversions are big for an offense and even bigger for your defense! Our punting game has not been that good and we still have this stat. Someone on the Clemson coaching staff knows what they are doing!!!

I suspect that they got possession of the ball on their side of the fifty. A lack of turnovers by the Tigers also helps with this stat.

If you re-read the OP you will notice that the tweet said "to drive the ball past the 50."
The 3 points came from an Int that turned into a FG.
In other words, they didn't drive down the field.

Given where the team was two seasons ago, this unit has improved dramatically.
Poor to average starting position created by this group, along with the great play of the defense, has made it very tough on opponents to drive the field.
I also have to commend the coaches and players in the secondary. Not giving up big plays in the passing game and a vastly reduced number of PI calls has also made a big difference.

I'm really surprised that one of those schools with very large pockets haven't come after BV with unreal offers to buy him out with an unreal salary, a salary that we couldn't come close to paying him!!! As a D 1 power 5 school, he is the out right best DC in the country!!! I really don't understand why stupid Stoops was making him miserable at Oklahoma. He let his brother cost Oklahoma the best DC in the country. I bet that stupid had other restraints on BV that didn't allow him to be the best that he could be. I say this bc he has been wide open since the day he went on the field at Clemson!!!
