He is, it's not his fault for some of the backlash he gets, it's the constant ESPN/media hype machine. He's obviously a phenomenal athlete, as I mentioned, one of the best ever, in any sport. He excels at driving the basket, or driving and dishing. Lacks the jump shot most greats have possessed though.

You'll find the guys at the top of any sport believe they're the best.
When someone asked Tajh a couple of years ago if he thought he was the best QB in college football, he said yes. There's nothing wrong with that. I'd prefer to have the guy leading my team have confidence.

all for it. There are obviously a lot of people, however, operating under the ridiculous and incorrect notion that one can't be supremely confident and remain humble and modest. In fact, a lot of people, I believe, equate bragging with confidence, or see it as a sign of confidence, but again, it's not. And don't try to tell me "if you can back it up it ain't bragging", because it is.

He's never said anything like that previously in his career. You can fact check me on that, but I've never heard it. Down 3-2, I think he was saying it to keep up the spirit and confidence of the team. Kind of a "don't give up, I'm here and I'm gonna do what I can to get us back into this thing".

Did you not see Lebron stiff arming and lowering his shoulder to run over people, the whole playoffs? Did you not see Dellevadova goon tactics the whole playoffs, or Tristan Thompson coming over the back on most of his rebounds. The refs pulled out all the stops for Cleveland in Game 6, but they lack so much talent after Irving and Love got hurt, there was no amount of help the refs could have gave that would have gave them a victory.
Not logically addressing what I stated, well that sounds like some stupid #### a shamecock would say.

I would expect nothing less from you than to take that stance. So, the Warriors got no calls?? How about just last night when crybaby Curry steps back over the half court line? You say that the Cavaliers we're getting all the calls but yet just out of the blue last night the refs start calling traveling on them when people have been taking 8 steps to the basket all series. Get outta here with that sh!t

You are so full of crap. How was Dell being a "goon" by hustling for loose balls? Lebron stiff arming and lowering his shoulder? Oh you mean when players were reaching in and trying to get the ball, etc. As for Thompson, he was a rebounding machine the whole playoffs, he wasn't going over the back he was in good position most of the time.
Now let's talk about Draymond Green. The guy on two separate jump balls held his opponents shoulder, flopped on several screens he set to draw a foul (a few games after setting hard illegal screens), and also last night should have had a few flagrants against Mosgov.
It was a terribly reffed series both ways. But don't let your unfounded hatred of someone that you'll never know personally get in your way of being an ignorant tool bag.

I love it. If Lebron wins, it was the refs' doing. If he loses, it's because "no amount of luck could help him win". At no point is the fact that he's a pretty good player carrying a pretty average team come into play.
A bunch of people who hate a stranger for no reason love built-in excuses enabling them to confirm their own preconceptions.
Hating Lebron - and especially being vocal about it - is the epitome of trying too hard. Sort of like hating Manning and/or Brady.

NBA achievment in history according to some. Lose and it doesn't matter. He was short handed. He could play loose and free. There was literally no pressure on him. Why he feels the need to let everyone know he is the greatest is something he only truly knows because he is stating the obvious when it comes to the current NBA....I'm not sure who he was trying to convince. He will be back. The East sucks and it isn't getting better next year.

Sounds like somebody can't come to grips with how close they came to losing a series to a team from the "terrible" East that had both arms tied behind their backs. I'm not a Cavs fan but watching a team that was all-star laden thump their chest when they hit a three that they were assisted for after getting a chance to rest for a quarter while while the same 6ish Cavs gutted out a whole game and kept it close was hard to watch.

You won't get any argument from me Golden St. had the better players. It took 4 games for Green to show up and Klay Thompson nearly took the Series off. You are cracking me up though that Golden St should have not celebrated a win because the Cavs were beat up. Ya think if the roles were reversed Lebron "I am the greatest" James and JR Smith wouldn't have jackassed it up? GS won with class. Like I said, Purple, Lebron will get back next year and a new excuse will be born.

Exactly. People hate Lebron because he's great, and he just says the same thing every other person with knowledge of basketball says.
I find it funny that everyone says "he has to have all stars to win" yet when he didn't he still took a team of old guys and no names to the finals and took the series to 6 games against a team with all stars.
Another thing no one mentions is that he is one of the few teenage stars from years ago that hasn't gotten in trouble with drugs, the law, or domestic violence. He's actually a good guy.

Exactly, don't recall the name of the Warrior player he knocked down with about 5 minutes to go in the game to score a close shot, but it was an obvious foul. This is where NBA basketball loses me, and why I don't watch near as much as I used too, it's more akin to football than basketball now. Rules and fouls do not seem to apply anymore.

Defense is a whole is better today, and that's backed with evidence.
Jun 17, 2015, 8:59 AM

Removing the illegal defense rule probably has a lot to do with it, but players as a whole just put more effort into defense now, and modern nutrition, science, travel, etc allows them to do.
I know the popular narrative among NBA haters is that nobody plays defense, but that's really not true and most people making that claim never watch any games. Listen to former players, analysts, and sports talk guys and you will hear them say that players exert more energy on defense now.
That's one of the theories as to why injuries are so high now. The evolution of 3 pt shooting and the increased effort on defense is forcing players to run more, cover more distance, etc.

rule. Now teams get to play match up zones, instead of having to play man on man the whole game. Match up zones gives players who aren't good on defense, some what of a mask to cover up their lack of defensive ability. And defense used to be a whole lot more physical from the 70's to 90's.

today. If a team of players that poor can make the NBA FINALS as one of the two best teams, what has happened to the quality of basketball in general?
The Cavs had a guy out there that looked like a church leaguer, little white guy Dellanova(sp?). If that guy starts for an NBA playoff finalist, you have to question the league as a whole.
Where are the quality players? Do they need to downsize the league by a half-dozen teams or so?

the two games they did win. You do realize their #2 and #3 players were out for the series, so naturally, Lebron had to carry the load and shoot much more than normal. For much of his earlier career, he was criticized for not shooting enough.

My point wasn't whether he was good at basketball, or could score, he obviously can do both as well as anyone in the league. I'm NOT arguing this point! Even said he'll go down as one of the top 5 or so to ever play.
I'm not a Bron hater, more of an NBA hater. Do not like what the league is now, in terms of play. Court should be lengthened 10 feet and 5 feet wider. Players are much bigger, stronger, and faster than they used to be. And they also carry/palm the ball and bring up their dribble at the foul line, if not further out, and take 3-5 steps toward the basket. I'm getting off topic, those are some of my problems with the NBA today. Having said that, this series did intrigue me. Steph Curry is a true basketball player - can do it all!
LeBron IS A GREAT ATHLETE that would excel at any sport he chose. Including football, baseball, tennis, hockey, soccer, ping-pong - whatever. One of the best athletes in the world.
He's not a true basketball player though - dude can't consistently hit a 15 ft jumper.

It was just he NBA started allowing him to run over everybody from 2000-2004, so he stopped using his great natural ability and just ran over defenders for the easy dunk. Watch Shaq pre 2000 and he had great post up skills.

still apologizing for how tired the Cavs are and guys, when a team is closing in on a NBA Championship, you focus on THAT team and not the losers.

Best athlete to ever play in the NBA. A true basketball player can face, one dribble and pull up at will. When LBJ gets iso, he's either going to the rim, or doing a step back jumpshot. Rarely do you see him pull up for jumpers. Not his game.

sounds like you started watching at the 8 minute mark of the last game. Those were the first string of shots he missed the whole playoff run. Simply put - dude was spent. He's had to carry that team the whole year and into the playoffs, no bosh or wade to lean on every once in a while. It was all on him. I think he saw that it wasn't meant to be and broke his focus there late in that game last night. Dude was a warrior though.

he takes very few of them. Instead, bulls his way to rim. usually gets hammered. His body may be done in about three more years.
