In keeping with the movie theme

Nov 4, 2021, 6:01 PM

Left work early to get a haircut and the weather is so lousy I just came home after and watched a movie.
Watched the Forgotten Battle on Netflix. it’s about the battle of the Scheidt which gave the allies access to the port of Antwerp after D-Day.

Probably not the casual war movie watcher’s cup of tea but I like how they told the same story through multiple points of view.

No spoilers. Reinforces what we know about Operation Market Garden. Total screw up by the Brits.

I knew bit's and pieces of the story beforehand. Very well done though it pi$$ed me off at times watching it.

Sounds like my alley. I'll have to check it out. Definitely not a well known campaign, but damm important. I was just reading the other day about a forgotten alternative to supply the allied armies from the westst coast of France, until Cherbourg could be retaken and rebuilt.

That's crazy. Patton was already griping about normandy supplies, and the plan was to ship them in from even farther away? The operation was scrapped when Antwerp fell...I just can't remember the name of it.
