You ever wonder if gas stations

can manipulate the amount of gas you are actually pumping/buying.

My vehicle holds 12 gallons. I was just shy of half full.

Seemed 6 gallons, maybe 8 would fill up. However, the pump indicated 10.55 gallons.

Made me think that was fraudulent.

What say you?

I can put almost 23 gallons in my truck not to long ago. It's never under 20 gallons

One nearby always takes like 5.4 gallons to hit the 5 gallon

You could have a faulty fuel level sensor

But to check on the station ...

run your car to almost empty ... I mean vapors.
fill it to the brim at the station
take a photo of the volume dispensed
compare to manufacturer tank size

If there is a discrepancy, contact management.

or easier ... get a 5 gallon gas can with volume graduations

fill to the 5 gallon mark ... look at the pump volume. easy peasy.

If they pump hasn't been inspected lately, they'll come out a retest it for volume accuracy.
