In all seriousness is Eric Striker a big deal

or is this another exaggeration by Walt? I am sure the guy is good but I don't know that much about him. Walt has been on a "Striker" kick for awhile now.

Very fast. Imo relies too much on instincts and his speed. Sometimes he makes a big play and sometimes he gets burnt.

John Harris has him rated as Oklahoma's top draft pick (of eligible players). BTW, he rates Shaq as the #1 pick in the playoffs as a first round lock and ahead of Alabama's Henry. #13. Eric Striker, OLB, Oklahoma (6-0, 222 lb., Sr.)
Honestly, I don’t exactly know where to play Striker given his size, but he’s too explosive off the edge and too quick and fast to not have a spot in the NFL. I’d immediately put him on the field as my dime linebacker but ultimately, an innovative defensive mind needs to create a position for him that involves equal parts rushing the quarterback, playing like a safety and occupying a nickel/dime linebacker spot. The lack of an established position could drop him on team’s boards, but the good ones will figure it out and highlight him on Day 2.
BTW, Wayne Gallman is his # 14. and Kearse is 15. All of them are listed as 2nd-3rd round picks. I don't have an opinion on Striker, but think that Harris has Gallman too high and Kearse about right. I really like Kearse, but NFL teams just don't draft safeties very high. BTW, he says that Alexander is a day 1 pick, but should come back and be the #1 CB in next year's draft.

Crazy to think that Gallman is almost bigger than striker.

We've gone up against better. Remember how all we heard for three weeks was about how good UNC was and what the committee would do once we lost? Same thing is happening here.

lol, that's north carolina. Whole different ballgame with a club like Oklahoma coming off a great year. Striker is pretty good, what he does best doesnt get into the stat book- he gets into the qbs face, forces throws when he doesnt want to, makes them run out of the pocket, and generally disrupts the pass game. Since the dbs are actually decent this year he's actually even more effective. I dont know if he translates well into the nfl, he might have to bulk up but in college he's one of the best for sure

Walt does that. He's probably right. He's got a good eye for talent. But he's not very good at picking the winner of a game. GO TIGERS!!

He is very good but also very one dimensional. He relies 100% on his speed, if a lineman can get two hands on him he is useless.

and struggles when teams run right at him. Hopefully we can run the Wayne Train his way enough to slow his role on the speed rush. I get the impression watching him that he's a speed rusher very much like Beasley, which is scary, but is not as stout against the run. And Beasley was not great against the run. We'll see.
