UofSuC has unrealistic expectations

In the last 40 years only 2 UofSC coaches have had a higher winning percentage than Muschump at .535 . Those being Spurrier and Joe Morrison. Those 2 coaches were there a total of only 17 years. Add Muschamps 3+ years and that is about half that 40 years.

Conversely, Clemson has had 4, Swinney, Ford, Hatfield and Bowden totalling 35 years. West was the other 5 years and was just under Muschump at .525 .

Spurrier had their highest winning percentage at .637. Swinney, Ford and Hatfield had higher winning percentages then Spurrier in his time at UofSC.
Spurrier only gave them a delusion that they are better than they are.

I'm not going to get into all of what you're saying, but I do have what I believe to be an honest question. In gamecock fan base history, when has that fan base not had unrealistic expectations?
It has been the same with them throughout their history. they have always been a wait until next year fan base. All through summer workouts, going into fall camp and preseason, they start claiming they are a 10-12 game winning team with a serious chance of playing in the NCG if they can get past this or that team during the season. That is all good until about the 4th or 5th game and they already have 2 to 3 losses with the best teams on their schedule are still ahead of them. Then the wait until next year starts all over again, and again, and again, they are the exact same coots with the very same wait until next year fan base after the 3d or 4th game into every season throughout their history!!! Why do we ever bother bringing any conversation about them into any thread here on T-Net. They are the very same story on different days!!!

They’ll always be a .500 or so team even with a good year or two added to the 1&2 win years. Makes a great retirement if your going out. Sign a 7-8 year contract for 5-6 million. A coach could get fired in 3 and start with a great retirement bonus $$.

No one supporting any team wants to say "I spend tons of hard earned cash to support a loser."
Pity them, feel sorry for them but we need them. If no one supported the chickens they may shelve the entire program.......

If they put that program on the shelf, all younger FB fans would now come up pulling for Clemson FB, buying Clemson gear, buying Clemson sporting tickets, enrolling at Clemson, and supporting Clemson... In several years there would be thousands more IPTAY donors, and we wouldn't need the coots FB program for anything bc, Dabo would see to it that there would be a better on average program put on our yearly schedule. We do not need the coot FB program for anything!!!

years can do, including a once in a generational talent at running back and defensive end. (Lattimore and Clownhead). And yet, even that was not enough to lift them to an SEC Championship. Then, he could not continue that recruiting success, simply ran out of gas, and took his toys and went home to Florida.
The one thing his success did do, it got Clemson fans to take stock of OUR program and invest in the future. The BOT and University Administration have never been as well aligned with the Athletic Department as they are right now, and the results speak for themselves.
However, just spending money doesn't get you there. You still have to have the right wheelman, which we do in Dabo Swinney. USuK has spent fortunes on their facilities as well, but the culture is so toxic, no one wants to go there to use them.
