In a society where the government kidnaps and imprisons

Dec 14, 2012, 1:38 PM

people, sometimes through the use of paramilitary 'no-knock-raid' tactics, for reasons such as smoking pot, can we really be all that surprised that people sometimes snap and resort to violent acts themselves?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yes, we can be surprised

Dec 14, 2012, 1:38 PM

the two have nothing to do with each other.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think you're wrong. They have everything to do with each

Dec 14, 2012, 1:40 PM

other. The more invasive the government gets, the more the government controls, the more violence the government employs on peaceful people, the worse society gets and the more violence we see from usually peaceful people.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are delusional if you think the US is anywhere near

Dec 14, 2012, 1:41 PM

that level of violence, invasiveness and control

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I say the opposite. People who don't think the US government

Dec 14, 2012, 1:46 PM

is this violent, invasive, and controlling are delusional.

There are UAV's flying American skies.
There is a kill list of American citizens
There is the ability to indefinitely detain American citizens
No Knock Raids are used early and often for suspected drug offenders and tax evaders
Airports are worse than Nazi checkpoints
etc etc etc

I could go on and on. Wake up

Everything I listed is admitted by the US government and

written about by "respectable" journalists. None of it is conspiracy theory or "tin foil hat."

don't be a sheep

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree, people should wake up

Dec 14, 2012, 1:55 PM

It's laughable how naive this country has become. One of the biggest myths in the world is that America is a free country.

Illegal search and seizers are becoming fairly routine, too

then set on fire. Government's role in this act is meaningless at this point.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Statists think society and government are the same thing.

Dec 14, 2012, 1:48 PM

"Conservatives" believe government and society are symbiotically linked.

Reality is that government erodes and destroys society.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I guess that's why Hitler had to start wars

To channel off the aggression he instilled in the otherwise peaceful.

Godwin's Law invoked.

wasn't sure what was going on and was armed (in his own house) and they killed him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it's worse than that

Dec 14, 2012, 1:54 PM

just google "no knock raid" and/or add some descriptive terms like "gone wrong". It's happening all over the place. An Iraq veteran was killed recently because he thought he was the victim of a home invasion.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

shootings they show up with dozens of weekend warriors in paramilitary uniforms who are "swat" teams. Countless state and local police with them, plus countless in street clothes.

What we need in these situations isn't 6 dozen guys excited to dress up in their olive drab para military garb, we need FASTER response and need those who do respond to be extremely well trained. I'm not sure what 6 dozen guys does when you have 1 or 2 shooters, and IF there was any battle that takes place it would be between the first 1 or 2 officers who show up and the shooter, not the 6 dozen weekend warriors that show up later.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What we need is a free society.

Dec 14, 2012, 2:03 PM

Then these shootings could be dealt with in any number of ways.

If I had my way, we'd have no pubic schools, only private schools, and the private schools would be responsible for their security. If one of these shootings happened at a private school, it would be sued out of existence and/or it would go bankrupt through lack of demand.

So you can imagine, they would take steps to prevent these sort of things, like armed and trained teachers and/or security guards, etc.

I think right now

I said the US Government instigated Pearl Harbor and expected it to happen in order to push the American people into war. I NEVER said the American people deserved it, that is a lie.

Extreme left-wingers still hold that view.

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

Maybe some of them. Some of the extreme right are pro-government, too. But some extremists on both sides vehemently oppose the state.
