Impacts of tonights bball games for Clemson...

Tonight was full of implications for Clemson, both in the ACC and as in the elusive world of the "bubble"...
ACC:
UofL over Cuse was a big win, as Clemson is now a full 1.5 games ahead of Cuse in the standings. (including tie-breaker)
GT just handed FSU an absolute dagger with a win in Tally. FSU drops to 6-8 in conference, and 3 games behind Clemson.
A UNC win would have put Clemson in 5th place, but Duke has thrown the conference into chaos. It's anybody's game, including the Tigers, who currently sit 1.5 games out of FIRST PLACE.
The Bubble:
The GT win over FSU was huge for Clemson's standings on the bubble, as FSU was Lunardi's last team in.
Syracuse was in Lunardi't last four byes before tonights loss.
St. Bonaventure was in the "next four out", and suffered a terrible loss to LaSalle
Texas Tech was "out" as well, but gained a HUGE win over OU. They are making a serious push.
Alabama beat LSU. Both are bubble teams, but LSU's resume seems to be looking very bleak. LSU really, really needed this one, as did Bama.
Xavier beat Providence - Providence may fall back into the "bubble", as they needed a big win, but couldn't get it.

there were a few other bubble games of interest... but

the biggest implications for Clemson came from the FSU loss, LSU loss, and TT win...by far.
The Vandy loss Tuesday night was absolutely huge as well.
Pitt almost suffered a "can.not.happen." type loss too

Things went about as well as they could for us. We need to watch Tubby smith's Red Raiders now instead of Vandy, I guess
And the Duke win was a hurt/didn't hurt sort of game. It hurt that we can't claim 5th place (butthere's time for that) but it sure didn't hurt to see all the goats crying afterward.
Also, Miami's tied with UNC for in first in the conference ... and a game in Chapel Hill this weekend. There's a lot of fruit basket turnover ahead at the top of the standings.
All we have to do is keep plodding, Tigers. Everything ... and I mean EVERYTHING ... is ahead of us.

Thanks for the great rundown. LSU will be in no doubt, unfortunately. While I would've preferred UNC to win, the ACC is Bert exciting now!

Yep LSU will get in because of the freshman sensation. Gotta have that storyline in March Madness even if they are one and done in the tourney like young mister Simmons is going to be in college.
