coming back. Lead balloon? Anvil on the head? Knowing it was a possibility that we would lose, he got out in front.

Perhaps the team's success against a weak schedule was fool's gold that caused him to back off a real search for a replacement and he simply was unprepared to pull the trigger with a viable option. Rookie mistake.

I think it was a financial decision.

I think it was a gamble because if we make the tournament next year hard to fire him and only 2 years left on contract hard to recruit.

NCAA next year, maybe even win a game or two. That is what it would take to keep his job, and we KNOW, he somehow divines each year EXACTLY the minimum it takes to keep his job, and does it.

The Boston Red Sox eventually broke The Curse of the Bambino, and the Chicago Cubs eventually broke The Curse of the Billy Goat. When, Oh WHEN, will Clemson University finally break The Curse of The Brownell?

How is it a money issue?

Mar 16, 2023, 11:08 AM

His buyout will be approximately the same next year.

Brad has Clemson by the testijewels. This same cycle will keep repeating itself and I'm not convinced things will get better no matter how much money or fan support we throw at it. I'm surprised we still have fan support now after 13 going on 14 years of nothing.

I've been saying this for days...

Mar 16, 2023, 11:57 AM

Neff knew what could happen and got in front of it...

The writing is on the wall without a K extension. When he praised CBB as much as he did in that roundtable....and really didn't say anything negative when there are plenty of negatives (understand why he wouldn't mention those) and then didn't extend the K at all...not even at same salary or not increasing buyout....its not too hard to see where this is going.

I don't hate on CBB like some here...but its past time for a change IMO. I just wish Neff would live by the "if it has to be done eventually...." mentality. I'm trusting for now he is setting the stage to attract a top-end coach. And if CBB can make a run in the NCAAs next...then great....still pulling for him despite what I feel is a situation where we know what we got and it aint changing much....
