That's a very logical way of thinking, but RK's mom has

Nov 9, 2012, 7:58 AM

never been to Clemson, met Dabo or any of the coaching staff, so she wouldn't know what she likes or dislikes. And she says she likes Alabama... but has never been there either. One thing is for sure, Dabo signs kids that commit, get hurt and never play a down in a Clemson uniform, because he's an honorable man. Nick Saban takes kids scholarships when they get hurt, oversigns and doesn't care about them as people. OLT, RK's brother went to Ol' #### because it's the only school that offered him. No way in hell RK goes there unless money is exchanging hands

The problem is they don't understand COMMITMENT.

Nov 9, 2012, 8:13 AM

decommitment should carry a stigma like dishonorably discharged.

Re: The problem is they don't understand COMMITMENT.

It also means you should never take that persons word again about anything. A persons word is the most valuable asset they will ever own. And being Honorable is all it cost....

I wonder if this young man would understand more about commitment if his girlfriend treated her commitment to him in the same manner. Commitment should mean something! It is your word, and that is the last thing your ever get to lose, and when it's gone, there are consequences that never go away. JMO, and I hope learns from this. I hope he rethinks his commitment and realizes that he made the wise choice initially.

While I agree with all of you on the word Commitment

Nov 9, 2012, 10:44 AM

I'm glad that he decided to at least de-commit while he was still evalutating things, rather than stay "committed" to Clemson, and then flip on signing day.

Re: While I agree with all of you on the word Commitment

Nov 12, 2012, 10:17 AM

Yes, I thoroughly agree, and I feel certain Dabo told him that is what he should do, also. I think we still get RN, but Dabo's handling of it will be the right way, no matter what. We have handled this in a very professional manner. IMO

So what you're saying . . .

Nov 9, 2012, 10:19 AM [ in reply to The problem is they don't understand COMMITMENT. ]

is that Tajh Boyd is doubly dishonorable, having backed out of two verbal commitments before choosing Clemson?

Of course not

Nov 9, 2012, 11:08 AM

that situation was somehow completely different and doesn't make that poster a hypocrite at all.

Or what about when Tramel Terry who is commited to

Nov 9, 2012, 8:56 PM

UGA but is coming to Clemson tomorrow and may commit to Clemson?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You do know that Lane Kiffin taking over Tenn is who backed

Nov 9, 2012, 1:20 PM [ in reply to So what you're saying . . . ]

out on Tajh, right? From what I remember Kiffin wanted a pro style QB and Tajh was looked at as dual threat when Kiffin came in. Right after Tajh was off Tenn's commitment board he was reevaluated by the services and listed as the #4 pro style QB (Rivals.com). Kiffin is a joke/slimball and I am so glad Clemson never truly considered him!

What kind of recruit update is this??????????

Nov 9, 2012, 8:21 AM

So we want everyone to know that we all understand why he decommitted? Thats a story? Whay dont we just tell all our recruits to decommit and consider other places.

What a totally unecessary recruiting update.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree...kinda dumb.***

Re: Recruit Update: Adams understands Nkemdiche's decommitment

Nov 9, 2012, 8:48 AM

I can understand why Montravius would think like this since he's said he never had a father's influence in his life. However, RN does have a father that lives here, is a physician, and has been mum about all of this. So with no strong father figure, RN has never had instilled in him the meaning of "a man's word is his bond". Now I get that this is a young kid, but we all are confident that Dabo doesn't coerce any young athlete to commit early...as his dominating mother has implied.

Re: Recruit Update: Adams understands Nkemdiche's decommitment

Nov 9, 2012, 10:01 AM

About this "a man's word is his bond" crap, we're talking about high school kids. I agree that people of that age should not break their word, but at the same time, when they do, we shouldn't be out there judging them for it all over the internet.

It's not like he signed up for the military and went AWOL. He didn't take out a loan and then say "I'm not going to pay this back." He didn't propose marriage and then leave the girl at the alter.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm sorry but by the age of of being a young man how one is

Nov 9, 2012, 1:55 PM

brought up/what one has been through is there within one's personality. My parents were divorced, lived with my mother and had spent many times waiting on my father to see me and him not show. Between that and being poor my word to someone was bond. Couldn't stand for someone to not keep their word and knew my word is all I had.

My brother signed a commitment paper his senior year of high school and was in San Antonio, Texas @ Lackland AFB for bootcamp 3 weeks removed from high school. Sure he had some uneasy feelings about where he was headed, but that was what he felt he had to do, and stuck by that.

I think the issue at hand is the options versus no form of repercussions by the NCAA. If there was some kind of rules set up to detour this "flopping" I bet we wouldn't have all "these 17-18 year-old excuses", now would we? Young men entering the world are just as liable for their actions as you or I, so why make any exceptions here? Oh that's right, because then that limits a revenue source run by grown men. It's quiet a disgusting business, imo.

Adams's Statement

Nov 9, 2012, 3:18 PM

Always good to know you love and respect ya mom and
dad.
But his statement only goes to show why these guys
are JUST KIDS. 30+ yrs ago, an 18 yr old was a young
man (young woman)....now they're kids.
In the end, it should be their decision, not mom and
dad's.
Otherwise,I'm not real concerned about Nkemdichie's
decommitment....yet. It may have been a way just to
get him to look at the bigger picture and make sure thats
what he wants to do (CLemson)---Just saying....
