Can the SEC be stopped from ruling college football. IMO I see this

Jan 20, 2022, 10:10 PM

as very bad for non SEC teams and college football in general. It’s clear the NCAA is caving from the pressure by the SEC and other conferences. But the conference that will benefit the most is the SEC. The sad part of this is that the immature HS kids will be used as pawns by coaches who want to win at most any cost.

“ ALABAMA, GEORGIA TO SEE SPONSOR, LICENSING BOOST FROM CFP TITLE GAME “
More $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for the SEC!

Can we continue to compete with a conference that continues to get richer and richer?? With money comes power, with power comes corruption! Some of the slickest coaches are now in the SEC. What’s funny is South Carolina will still be the SEC door mat.

Rapid and unhealthy changes are taking place in college athletics. I think we have crossed a line of deceit, cheating, corruption and behind closed door dirty deals that will make the $100 handshake in the 70’s and 80’s look like no more than getting a slap on the hand. We have crossed that line of no return. Throw in the TP and you have the dying of college athletics as we have known for many decades.

Some of you may think I am a little nuts, but I said 10 years ago money will take over college football and the NCAA would become a useless organization.

CFP for the rest of us. That is what they really want, anyway.

Let their SEC Championship Game be renamed the SEC Super League National Championship, and no SEC team is eligible to play in the less prestigious College Football Playoff.

That should make all parties happy.

Some things never change. The corruption, deceit, bribes, unethical actions you reference are not new in their league. Now, it's just a little closer to being somewhat within the rules. They'll still figure a way to buy the cars, houses, give relatives scholarships to non existent programs and fix grades, but now it'll be harder to make a case against it. They finally have it the way they always have had it, and it'll be somewhat legal.

Supposedly that is why the alliance between The PAC-12, The Big 10 and the ACC was established as to counter any move the SEC has, or could gain.
If push comes to shove, let the SEC have an all SEC National Championship ,and see how long that last.
As far as the ACC goes, it could even come down to where rival games like Clemson/South Carolina, Georgia/Georgia Tech , and even Florida/FSU are permanently done away with so has to give the SEC any leverage, or advantage. Just saying! Add to that the other two conferences refuse to schedule cross conference games with the SEC. Are you reading this Mr. Commissioner(s)?
Add to that there would be no season opener games like we had this year between Clemson and Georgia.
In the future ,you could see more cross conference games between the ACC ,Big 10 and PAC-12 and with the right sponsorship and backing could eventually have their own National Championship .
Then see the SEC want to play that winner for what we now have as the CFP Championship. Hopefully however the Alliance could then tell the SEC to take a hike.
Who knows what is going to happen in 10 years .Even I am just speculating as to a possible shift with these moves.
But if it comes down to playoff expansion and the SEC, say for instance, is able to get 4 out of the 8 teams in then the SEC would, IMO ,would rule college football but then the playoff's would not really be needed, now would they because once again the committee would set it up to where at least 2 of the 4 SEC semifinal teams make it to the Championship.

They should bring the BIG 12 and the American into the alliance as well. The biggest out of conference game for the SEC would be the sunbelt teams. IS ND Football involved in the alliance thing?

The SEC can NOT be stopped - and it’s not just

Jan 21, 2022, 1:05 AM

football. The SEC is the dominant conference in all of college sports: baseball, softball, basketball (both) and, of course, football. I personally hate the $$ sickness that infects college sports at this time. But, without a commissioner, or an ncaa with any teeth, this is the hand we are all dealt. More fans, more elite athletes and coaches, and MO MONEY.

I no longer spend the week watching semi pro college football. And I am sure I am not the only one. As ESPN starts to have more money troubles it will trickle down to the players. And I will not buy the products these entitled athletes peddle. I am sick and tired of the entire mess that we call college athletics. Over paid coaches, paid players, the TP. I am sick of sports in general including talk radio, print media etc… a friend of mine is an assistant AD at a college in SC. He said that all this big money is not sustainable. It’s up to the fan’s to help make a change.

I honestly can’t see Dabo signing another contract. Why put up with the BS and the headaches. I wonder to how long it will be before kids start getting in trouble with the biggest police force in the world. The infamous IRS?? They will get their ??????????????.

Short answer....YES. They can be stopped. I was living in Texas when the old Southwest Conference was having the same things said about them. They proceeded to feast on each other until the Golden Goose was indeed dead, or no longer existed.

In my humble opinion, it is not the SEC that has to be stopped from ruling the College Football world. It is ESPN and their basket of almighty dollars.

The $EC has an over-inflated opinion of themselves...

Jan 21, 2022, 7:54 AM

that is largely fueled by E$ecPN.

In reality, the $EC doesn't have nearly the power they think they have.

I’m not sure that it can be.

The SEC has dominated the sport for the past twenty years. Does anyone see that changing? Sure, Ohio St, Clemson, USC, Texas may win one or two here or there but the SEC has been the pillar.

The ACC has no you know what. Should have forced Notre Dame to join the conference in football.

More Like Stop Nick Saban/ Urban Meyer/ Anomaly QB's

Jan 21, 2022, 6:27 PM

Of the 13 the SEC has won since 2000

Nick Saban directly or indirectly had a hand in 8 of them.
03 - LSU
07 - was Nick's players and scheme after he left for Dolphins.
09 - Bama
11 - Bama
12 - Bama
15 - Bama
17 - Bama
20 - Bama

There were teams that would have beaten everybody else in all of those years in the SEC. Especially because they were still mostly running archaic offenses for most of the 2-thousands.
Throw in a absolute freak of a QB at Auburn - 2010 and a up-tempo offense defenses hadn't caught on to. Absolute freak of a situation with a 6th year QB transfer - plus 5 deep NFL All-Star WR's and RB for LSU in 19. Urban Meyer and an absolute Great """"College""""""QB in Tim Tebow and the speed option that defenses hadn't caught on to and you get dominance!

I have never bought into the hype and I never will. Top heavy and Heavy - Heavy Nick Saban influenced has brought the whole "aura" into being a thing. As well as ESPN giving in to the rabid SEC fans that want to see their teams "Dooo guuuud"!

Your powers that be should have jumped to the SEC years ago but............ nooooooo. They were skeered. You'd probably still have only a single natty but would be better off in the long run.
