“I like your shirt, but”

Go ahead,
Bet against this man and see what happens.
Nuance your comments with what I like to call the, “I like your shirt, but” approach.
I like your shirt, but your breath stinks, you stink, you’re missing this and that, you don’t know how to blah blah blah…insert criticism after a feign compliment.
You see, Dabo KNOWS how to build things. Very few people in this world have that capacity. He knows how to do it because he can envision it. He walks with humility and seeks out knowledge. He seeks out people better than him.(that’s one of the hidden secrets), and then he does it.
90% of those opining 25-100 times a day with “I like your shirt, but”. have never BUILT anything in their lives, not even a treehouse.
They dream small. They don’t have vision. They like how they sound, how they said it, and end up with internal guidance for what it’s worth.
Keep it coming. It’s raw fuel for a burning fire that comes from inside, from his faith, from family, and a burning thirst to improve.

Best part is he's instilling that in the kids. The ones that don't get it, leave.

AND, it's their loss. What Dabo peddles will take them to success they only have dreamed about to date. Clemson is going to be just fine!

I agree, Dabo is a builder. He dreams big. He inspires. He wins.

His success has been incredible.
But this is a different challenge now. This isn’t about building, playing the underdog card, “us against the world” and all that.
This is about staying elite, and defending our turf. It’s about maintaining the high standard Dabo himself has set. It is very different situation from what he has dealt with previously.
I have no doubt that Dabo is capable of getting us back to the mountaintop, but I don’t think he knows how to do that yet. He is learning how to conquer this unique challenge. I hope he will do so with humility and a willingness to learn, just as he did as he built us into a power.
We must be patient with him while he learns how to do this, because I don’t think it will happen overnight.

Everything I said is the truth. He’s amazing. I believe he will figure it out.
But if Dabo had all the answers, we wouldn’t be having the kind of season we are, would we?

You did exactly what he was pointing out in both posts. “His success has been incredible. But this is a different challenge now.”
“I believe he will figure it out. But if Dabo had all the answers, we wouldn’t be having the kind of season we are, would we?”
I said this yesterday - there are a lot of but(t)s on this site lately.

A lot of but(t)s here. That's really cute.

Did you come up with that all by yourself?
The nuances of our current situation are different than anything Dabo has experienced at Clemson. He doesn't have all of the answers, because if he did we wouldn't have gotten into this situation this year, nor would we have shown almost no improvement since the first game of the season.
Being honest about Dabo in this situation seems to affect some of you personally. I'm not sure why.
I am confident that Dabo will figure it out, because he's an excellent coach as well as a proven winner. He hasn't yet, though.

Not really. I don’t live or die by the T-Net in any form or fashion.
But you and the Judge do.
How many times a day do you wail and whine away here? Altogether ruthless in your criticism is a “fan”. But you demand excellence, right?
And the good Judge tries so hard, so many times a day, one wonders if mom has to bring the bottle or the bucket when he yells #1 or #2 for fear of leaving the keyboard.
Who again is most proud of their work and likes to hear themselves type??
Work time now for me. Troll on-

and resort to bringing up the basketball program as if that's going to bother me somehow. LOL!
None of Brownell's Clemson teams have exhibited this level of collapse and disappointment relative to talent level, preseason expectations, and program expenditures. Not even close. In fact, we typically exceed expectations under Brownell.
Instead of looking for ways to criticize our basketball program, you should spend more time asking how the highest paid coaching staff in college football, with the best facilities in college football, and talent which is widely considered to be among the top 5 in the nation this year, is just one game over .500 with one of the worst offenses in FBS. How does that happen?!?

Even with Jaron Blossomgame's last season, and the year after we made the sweet sixteen? We were preseason top 25 that season. And if you are going to say injuries effected us, but then what about 17 players out for injuries this season in football? That would be equivalent of losing 3 or 4 players out with injuries for basketball...

I agree Judge, that we must be patient and yes, these are different times. As much as I want the Tigers to win every game every season, let’s be realistic, fans. This is a great learning tool for life that this team needs. Hitting a rough patch and recovering from it teaches them(us) to think differently; not to simply push the “easy” button all the time. It’s not about giving up when something seems bigger than us, it’s about figuring out a way to overcome. This doesn’t just apply to sports. Apply it to marriage, school, work, serving God,,,,,,,,. I believe we have the staff in place to help these men learn from this. Go Tigers!!

I don't think any Clemson fan would disagree with you about Dabo. But...it's OK to question things about this season as a fan who is trying to understand the situation and what happened. It doesn't make you, me, or anyone else less of a fan.

Agreed. As fans, we have become accustomed to a level of success that I wouldn’t have dreamed of 25 years ago. With that comes a desire to keep the window open as long as possible.
It is only natural for fans to be concerned about the results this season and not many programs, save for Alabama, have been able to stay at the level we have for the last 6 years. So it is realistic to assume this will not last forever, but we want to ride the success as long as possible.
That is where my concerns are, that our depth bleeds out due to a one way transfer portal. This puts even more pressure on recruiting and top recruits to pan out. I don’t like it, but the game has changed significantly versus two years ago and a team that does not accept transfers cannot win a national title in the foreseeable future. Maybe a program like Bama or UGA that stockpiles 5 stars may be able to pull it off, but UGA starts several transfers and we are nowhere the same recruiting level as Bama.
Being nervous about our direction does not make anyone a bad fan. Nor should anyone have blind faith in our coaches. Culture is tough to build and just as hard to maintain. Not using the portal puts the team at a severe talent disadvantage, and it begs the question if our recruiting classes are overrated, knowing that we have to pass on portal players as part of the recruiting pitch to bring in high 4-5 stars.
And if our culture cannot hold up if we bring in a few transfers, is it really as strong as we think?
I’m fairly bullish on a rebound year in 2022, but there is plenty to be concerned about structurally. We’ll probably lose 7-8 off the two deep to the NFL and portal by the first game next year. Without depth players coming in, we will be good but struggle to compete with the elite teams.
