I'm not a mind reader, I failed that course at Clemson.

If I could I might have been able to preserve my marriage. I can't address why Dabo insist on keeping DJ at the starting position.
I can tell you why I'd keep him there. It seems clear to me that Cade is comfortable playing backup. If I thought DJ was comfortable in that position I'd change starters. Idk how DJ would react to being replaced and neither do any of you. It's all just a guess.
Along with knowing Cade is exceptional off the bench, I also know that Dabo knows those two better than any of us. That makes me consider the decision to keep DJ as starter is possibly the best way to keep both of them. MAYBE. We didn't really care if Kelly Bryant left but it was touch and go when TL was out. We survived and were delighted but we survived until Trevor returned.
We don't know if we'd fair as well if Cade, our speculated starter was knocked out of playing with only one backup to handle the QB responsibilities. He sure can't score from the sideline.
Being that Dabo has proven that he isn't shy about sitting DJ to win a game and we know that Cade is more than capable of squatting on an opponent's hopes, we can't know how it would be if DJ decided he got 'Slapped in the face,' by losing his job to a freshman QB and left the team. I'm not accusing him of that.
It took a bit to sort through the situation but I'm not accusing Dabo of thinking DJ might leave or even suggesting he would leave if a change happened. Maybe it's something all together different, idk.
That, imo, makes more sense than thinking our HC is just a suborn moron for not starting the best QB on our team. There's also the possibility that Dabo is starting the best QB. Imo, it's not a high probability but it's there.

CK gave us the best chance to win the game. Moving forward, DJU gives us the best chance to win games until that is no longer true.

I'm not the coach and don't know what he knows but I trust he is doing what's best for the team. I've never criticized Dabo and never berated any Clemson sitting coach.

(not at Dabo and DJ level), this is what coaches do, make tough decisions. Dabo has team first guys, and even though QBs are usually your biggest egos, DJ knows CK2 is better option on that day. Tomorrow is a different day.

I heard idiot fans around me screaming "stop running up the middle." Not to mention the yankee woman who screams "Common, you sweet little boys" ten times between each snap. As if tough football players want to be called "sweet little boys."
But guess what, the coaches knew it would work, and keep the Syracuse offense off the field, and but for Shippley's funble after a good gain, or DJ's odd fumble on a sure score, it would have been a laugher. As it was we had nearly 300 yards rushing, and that scored the winning points. In a normal game we win this one lopsided against a good undefeated team.
I think I need to trust the coaching staff to decide who plays and what plays to call.

Yesterday running up the middle was the best play to run. They had an undersized DL and we could run up the middle any time we wanted. It’s not that way every game but it was yesterday.

These are first world problems to have. A stable full of horses and we get to pick the best one to run against any given opponent. DJ I’m sure will be the starter and against some teams will do better than Cade. When he can’t get it done at least we don’t have to sit here wondering anymore, we know Dabo will try something else till he figures out how to win!

Do you want to play for a Natty or just play for an ACC title. DJ can't win us a Natty. Cade might be able to if he gets a few starts under his belt.

Where did he say he wanted DJ to fail? He gave his opinion and that’s all it was, his own opinion. He’s right, DJ can’t win anyone a NC. Right now neither can Cade. This team unfortunately can’t. The defense is too shaky at times, and the offense doesn’t have the talent at WR that is required. This is a 2017 type deal. I do worry about UNC and their offense in the ACC title game. I’ll take the conference and another playoff banner and go from there.

Imo, DJ and Cade are both better when they share time.

Both have said the other pushes them and given credit to their partner. It's likely that with a two QB strategy we could win the NC. I'm just not confident that DJ could come off the bench and perform as well as he does at starter.

I've been delighted with him all season though I, like everyone including Dabo, saw issues with him in the Cuse game. I don't beat on DJ to make Cade appear better. No one needs to do that.
Cade is a true running threat, his first step is much quicker than DJ along with his top speed. His ability to cut and see the field is much better too. Cade sets his feet for a pass after he leaves the pocket using half the time DJ takes. DJ has a beautiful deep pass but not better than the one Cade threw to the goal line which drew a PI call. PI was their only option to prevent a Clemson TD.
It's not that I want to see Cade or DJ running the ball more than just enough to cause defensive secondary to lose focus on receivers over concerns that he'll get loose and torch them.
I admitted if keeping DJ on the team requires him starting in Dabo's opinion and Dabo is willing to sub for him when he struggles I'm fine with the situation. I lodged no complaints and made no criticisms of either Dabo nor DJ.

D.J. is not an elite Q.B. He is good at s lot of things, but he is not great at anything. He is physically slow and he reads the field slow. He is terrible at executing a timing route. Great quarterbacks sling the ball and do get picked. D.J. is so afraid of getting picked that he won't throw the ball.

I can tell you why DJ is the starter… He gives Clemson the best chance to win. Period. Cade is going to be great but he doesn’t know the offense. He is not experienced enough to read defenses, check out of bad plays, make the correct reads, etc. DJs problem is execution and his mental game but as of now, he gives us the best chance to win.
