is Bakich viewed as a homerun hire? Is he a defensive oriented coach or is he more offense minded? And, how is he as a recruiter?

IMO he checks all those boxes...I mentioned on another thread that he did have a top ten recruiting class a couple years ago...When he took over Michigan they were traditionally competitive but ho-hum..In two years he won the big ten tournament and four years after that he was in the CWS finals against Vandy & lost 2 games to 1...

Furthermore if not for the biggest hose job of umpire calls down in Louisville they would've been in the super regional this year.....As for myself I am ecstatic & I hope Bakich makes me look like a prophet....I think it is a great hire (If rumors are true) He played at ECU so he certainly has ties to the south....Heck here is his bio for you folks to read

You can't win without scoring, but you can lose by playing bad defense which is a basic rule in basketball and football as well.

He’s highly thought of in the industry. Definitely one of the top 10-15 coaches in the college game. Don’t think we could’ve done any better at the price we were willing to pay.

McConnell, Sully and Jarrett weren’t going to happen. We had a shot with Jarrett until the FSU job opened.

We basically poached a good program’s coach. He will do great things here
