but, ####, I'm so sick of hearing people cry and complain about this so called SEC media bias by Kirk Herbstreit and the rest of ESPN. it's ridiculous. i hate the sec, but with that being said, they talk about them being the best because as of right now they are. period. 6 straight national titles, what are they supposed to say about them? they really ain't that good? always remember Kirk talking good about Clemson. quit crying. they're a great conference and I'm glad that with our location and history we have the opportunity to play teams from that conference 2 or 3 times a year.

I agree. Obviously ESPN isn't going to swarm a conference that has only two good teams in it (ACC). The B1G is awful, the Pac 12 has 2 good teams, and there is no point in even talking about the Big East. I'm just as sick of the SEC as anyone else, but the simple fact of the matter is that none of the other conferences with the exception of the Big 12 are worth talking about right now.

Look at the USA Today football poll. The SEC has 6 of the Top 10 teams in the nation to only one for the Big 12. The Big 12 has only 3 of the Top 25. If you include those teams receiving honorable mention votes, the SEC has 2 more teams to only one more for the Big 12. It has to be what you are drinking because I'm sure your bias against and hatred for the SEC has nothing to do with that lapse in judgment. I personally prefer bourbon with my coke. But gin with a lemon twist is not bad either.

All of the facts you just spouted are only true because the bottom half of the SEC is 0-30+ against the top half. The Big 12 has 9 bowl eligible teams out of 10. Not to mention they play a 9 game conference schedule.

than Big 12 teams. Look at the recruiting rankings counting the number of conference teams finishing with Top 10 classes:
2008...SEC 3 - Big 12 1
2009...SEC 4 - Big 12 1
2010...SEC 5 - Big 12 2
2011...SEC 4 - Big 12 1
2012...SEC 3 - Big 12 1
2013...SEC 5 - Big 12 1 (these recruiting classes still in progress).

You can't use recruiting rankings as a gauge for talent on a team. Miami recruited near the top for years and was never as talented as those rankings showed. I am talking about play on the field this year and how bad the bottom of your beloved conference really was.

as I showed. The poll does not lie. The SEC dominated the Top 10, Top 25 and those receiving honorable mention
votes. Every conference has doormats that should lose to the better teams in the conference. Our doormats, Vanderbilt and Tennessee blew away ACC doormats Wake Forest and NC State.
The more talented teams are in the SEC as I proved from the rankings made by recruiting analysts. Does coaching make a difference? Certainly. clemson has outrecruited Carolina for 7 of the past 9 years. Yet, Carolina has beaten clemson by double digits each of the past 4 years. Again, as I documented above, the SEC dominates on the field, as well as the recruiting rankings. As far as Carolina and clemson are concerned, clemson dominates in the recruiting rankings. Carolina dominated where it counts: on the field.
During pre-season, many of the football magazines rank the conferences. The SEC gets their number one ranking.
I provided the proof. If you want to hide your head in the sand, that's your choice. But I've noticed that even on this board, there are clemson fans who do acknowledge the superiority of the SEC. They live in the real world, whereas you live in an alternate universe of make believe.

If you match up the SEC's best against the Big 12's best, who would win? My predictions:
Bama defeats Kansas St.
Florida defeats Oklahoma
Georgia destroys Texas
LSU defeats OK St.
Texas A&M defeats Baylor
South Carolina defeats TCU
Mississippi St defeats Texas Tech
West Virginia defeats Vandy
Ole Miss defeats Iowa St
Mizzou or any of the rest of the sec teams defeat Kansas
That makes the sec 9-1 in these matchups.

You have no proof in any of those match-ups. I could give you a reason that almost every Big 12 team would win. If you think the UGA team that showed up in Columbia could beat any big 12 team except Kansas you are crazy.

I provided proof to him of the superiority of the SEC on the field (USA Today Coaches poll), in talent (Rivals recruiting rankings) and other (pre-season football magazine rankings of conferences). There are some people in this world who still believe in Santa Claus, the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy. That guy is apparently

I too am a Clemson fan,100% but I am also a realistic fan.Our 10-2 record this season was a good accompolishment,but our two losses,both against teams that were ranked in the top 15 leaves room for concern.
Last years win over Auburn and FSU at home,and the two wins over Va.Tech were good wins.But we lost to Ga.Tech ,and N.C.State,and of course the coots.Sort of even things out!
This season we saw that our win over Auburn was nothing.They sucked.We lost on the road to a good FSU team( nothing to be ashamed of there)but losing to the coots in the Valley was a downright embarrassment.
Yet,when I point things out like this to some members,I am not being a "realistic",but rather labeled a coot.
And that has nothing to do with Herbstreit ,or the SEC.
That's just being honest.

I'm with you, man. I am die hard Clemson fan through in through, but I am REALIST. I would say the same for myself if I were about to go toe to toe with Mike Tyson. I believe in myself until the day I die, but I know he would whoop my @ss. Plain and simple, we just can't match up to a team like LSU, or h3ll, even Carolina for that matter. We just don't have the personnel on the defensive side of the ball.

Not yet anyway.But I am hoping that Venables is the man that can get us the defensive personnel we need.
Look,here is the "realsitic" view of our defense.Brent was playing with Kevin Steeles recruits.This was his first season,and I think it would be best described as a work in progress.And at times it worked.
But you are correct.We do not have an SEC type of defense ,and it showed in the Carolina game,and I fear it will show up in the LSU game as well.
However,I am also distraught by what our offense could not do against Carolina.It was if we went away from our strengths in that ball game.Only wish I knew what Morris/Dabo were thinking.
I do know this.Another game plan( if there was one) like we had against USC will result in another USC type loss to LSU.

How can you possibly say we can't match up with Carolina. If you watched that game we let ourselves get out of rhythm, had we not I have no doubt we would have won. We came out firing and let them control our game and then just passed on every play. I say that loss was more our own inability to stay focused on our game plan and getting caught up in theirs instead. So if we are realistically just as every bit as good as the coots who says we cant beat LSU and match up with them. Sure our defense could use work but if we play a tough game and actually play our game this time, I believe we can win. Doesn't sound very Clemson-like to say we cant match up with LSU or Carolina to me.

on the gridiron within the ACC this year. However, there is a growing sentiment across the nation, expressed on a number of school sites, about what appears to be constant promotion of the SEC, not only by ESPN but other media outlets. Rightly or wrongly, that sentiment leans toward a belief that such promotion gives the SEC an unfair edge in all matters relating to athletics, but, specifically, football. The simple fact is that most fans are very "touchy" about perceptions of lack of respect for their schools...and hence, the complaints.
I have long maintained that the NCAA should have taken the bull by the horns, so to speak, regarding conference alignments, the proliferation of media contracts, the number and tie-ins of bowl games, even the BCS system, long ago...and that reverts to a lack of leadership in my opinion. One of the characteristics of leadership is anticipation...the ability to perceive all possible, future scenarios, and then to take preemptive actions to (hopefully) avert or avoid problems. Apparently, this has not happened..and why the raging debates over the aforementioned continue...and will unless the NCAA steps in to control. Of course, that begs the question: Could the NCAA do so now, given the extent of the problems?

Oklahoma against the NCAA in the Supreme Court tied the hands of the NCAA regarding media contracts and conference alignments. And obviously, I'm glad about that. I'm for free enterprise and capitalism. The only thing I would change is bowl revenue-sharing within conferences. I think the best teams should keep the money they earn in bowls. And I truly believe that if the NCAA had their way, we would not be going to a playoff system in 2 years.

simply don't recall the case, and I do, also, support free enterprise. I, also, agree about bowl revenue-sharing, although I understand contrary arguments. My point is that if one of the NCAA's missions is to promote fairness, then the ongoing problems associated with the perception of the lack of such should have been addressed before those perceptions arose. The question to me is how much control of collegiate athletics has been ceded to the media via the money involved?

because I don't like the networks dictating who we play and when. But then again, I don't want to dig deep into my pocket to pay for all the new facilities and making football coaches millionaires many times over. Ironically, as I'm typing this, I have "Morning Joe" on in the background. Joe Scarborough is a former Republican Congressman from Florida and an Alabama alum, who has his own show on TV. He or one of his guests just said, "Roll Tide". I rolled my eyes hearing that. Believe it or not, I'm pulling for Notre Dame to beat them. I'm not Catholic.....just tired of Bama always winning. So, in a way, I truly can understand the sentiments of those who get tired of hearing "SEC this and SEC that".

since my freshman year and following conference developments, I would suggest that more than a few Clemson folks believe that we should have followed suit with S.C. and left the ACC years ago...and then, attempted to get into the SEC. Therefore, I suspect a lot of the focus on the SEC by Clemson fans derives from our belief that that is where we belong. Which possibility, of course, may be remote. Nevertheless, I agree about Bama, as I'm certain fans of most SEC teams would prefer to see The Tide brought down a notch or two.

If school A invest $100M in their program over 10 yrs...builds new facilities...hires the best coaches why should they share the fruits of their work with school B who has marginally committed to winning...has older facilities...has no real interest in competing at the highest level.

at least as far as Clemson is concerned. At that point we would be 2-1 against the $EC with Georgia our next game. At least it puts us in a good position going into next year to have some credibility on a national scale and it is hard for eSECpn to argue against those numbers.

if not better than the sec. But you don't see ESECPN praise those two conferences. By the way conferences don't win games teams do. The SEC hasn't won 6 straight national titles, because last time I checked conferences aren't allowed to put all star teams together for bowl games. And one of those national titles by Auburn was won due to Cam Newton being paid 250,000 dollars to go to Auburn over MSU.
By the way Kirk Herbstreit is about the only person on espn that doesn't show espn bias. He picked FSU to be in the national title game.
