Syracuse game

Feb 27, 2013, 7:43 PM

Me and my cousin are planning on traveling to the Cuse game. What is the best way to purchase tickets and also what would be the best bar to meet up with other Clemson fans? TIA

I'm driving up from NJ for the Cuse game as well

I know single game Cuse football tix go on sale in August. I'm most likely going to buy off Craigslist or outside stadium day of game.
As far as what bar to hit I'm sure the Clemson NYC alumni group will be there and have something planned pre-game.

That's nice that you bought your cousin a round trip to the game. I'm sure he appreciates that.

Some Cuse info here: www.texanmarktailgate.blogspot.com

I plan to update more of the guide tomorrow.

As for tickets: Syracuse has an active scalping scene. This game might sell out...please don't judge. Our fanbase has bleed off the last 10-15 years with horrible teams and factory closings. At the very least we should have 45,000. Sellout is about 49.5k.

Couple points: Parking sucks around the campus. Easiest is for you to tailgate at Skytop and take the shuttle over. Skytop should allow overnight RV parking. If you are not tailgating and want to go to a bar you might pick a place like the Sheraton on campus. Usually a good scene with beer/food vendors set up outside. There is some parking for individual cars near campus but if you want to tailgate go to Skytop.

Thanks for the info. I am looking for a hotel that is convenient to both the airport and stadium. What would you recommend that is not too pricey but not a dump either?

Check my guide out. http://www.texanmarktailgate.blogspot.com

Best place to stay between the airport and the stadium is around 7th North St area next to I-81. One of my favorite budget places is actually an Econolodge on South Bay Rd. in North Syracuse (about 1/4 mile south of the airport entrance). It was a brand new building built about 8 years ago and is still in good shape. It is located in a safe, middle class area. There are a few places to eat close by to the Econolodge. The absolute best hole in the wall seafood restaurant is about 1/2 north on South Bay Rd. It is called "The Clam Bar". Sorry, no catfish...we eat Haddock up north. It is excellent white flake fish breaded and served in a bun. Try the steamed clams too. The local beer of choice is LaBatts Blue or Labatts Blue Light.

Yes...There is a Bud Brewery in town and the Bud stuff is popular too. Sam Adams is contracted to be made in a local brewery in CNY too. We have some great micros up there too. But LaBatts is most popular with the average consumer up there. Yuengling is pretty popular too. Bottomline there are a ton of good choices. BTW, LaBatts is quite good.

Syracuse might as well be in Canada.

It is 100 miles south of the border...and your point is?
Have you ever been north?

Upstate NY has about 7 million folks...and is squarely in the middle of Cleveland to Boston Montreal/Toronto to NYC and DC.

I'm driving up for that game.***

It's better than Bud. But what ain't? Can you get beer from Great Lakes Brewing (Cleveland)? Good stuff. Looking forward to the trip. I do think Yankees have elevated junk food to an art form. So it should be a super trip.
