Cell Phone Public Service Note: After 35+ yrs I quit my 2 providers!

Yep, and it as as easy as eating pie!

Since Jan 1st 1988 I'd been with Alltel/Verizon with an additional 1-800 line from AT&T connected to it for my commercial replacement lighting customers.

My metal hand-held cell phone made by Motorola back then weighed 10 lbs and cost $1400 (have bill) and calls cost $ .39 a minute ($ .78 if 1-800 used) so I wasn't as gabby back then..plus when driving & delivering around Charlotte I would drop calls often since Alltel had only one tower!

I went this expensive route since I saved by not having a secretary/office helper by call-forwarding my office land line to the cell phone when I went out to deliver, make sales calls or for deliveries.

My combined monthly bills back then and for years could be $200-$400 a month..but last couple years the Verizon was $107 and AT&T was $25 a month for unlimited coverage..

but at 81.999 yrs of age I wanted & needed to save for the gas needed to go boating or to Clemson, so I researched other cell phone providers and decided on MINT.

They use cable lines from T-Mobil who just bought out the three main stockholders of Mint for $1.3 Billion with the deal having the Founder remain on as CEO. WSJ wrote about this company recently and had high regards to their success.

The Mint fully unlimited monthly package plan is $30 with tax included (plus a tiny one-time get-started set-up fee) with an upfront payment of $90 for 90 days coverage b/4 you get your Sim Card via one-day Fedex so to quickly & easily insert it into your present call phone and kiss your expensive and/or Left-wing carrier goodbye.

If one wants to sign on for another 9 months (basically a 12 month deal) the price remains at $30..

but signing on for only 3 more additional months makes it go up to $40 monthly while signing on for 6 more months brings bill to $35 monthly.

And, No contracts!!

And, bottom line is I have seen NO difference in performance or coverage of my Apple 8+ phone over last 30 days from Mint over Verizon and I will save $76 a month plus $25 a month more from AT&T.

Check it out if you need and/or want to save or change your cell phone carrier (if you aren't nailed into a 1-3 year contract).

PS: You can purchase additional lines but cost is same as the main line.

Go TiGERs!

I carry two phones, don’t pay for either, and plan to throw them both out the window when I can retire! 😝

I'm a Mint subscriber as well

but I don't use much data, so I pay $15/month for 5GB data and unlimited talk/text. I haven't had any issues since I signed up last year.

I did find our old Motorola bag phone recently. Might be worth something one day.

T Mobile Senior plan, $35 mo. total. No add on charges. Unlimited talk, text, data. No contract. Great cell coverage plus 5G. Plenty of free foreign country usage as well at no additional charge or restrictions. Free scam blocker that blocks unwanted nuisance calls automatically. I love that feature and free McAfee antivirus software (I use Norton but have to pay for it).

I've had Consumer Cellular for about 10 years! No intention

to change! All US based customer service, I have three phones for about $80 per month, no contract. They run on ATT network, no gimmicks. You can use their phones or bring your own! It amazes me how many people will pay double for Verizon!

and no, I am not telling anyone what my bill is. Thanks. Going to check this out. With the way things are inflated and likely going to continue, I'm looking for ways to save!

Bill, we all know you switched to Mint because of Ryan Reynolds
