I-26 Columbia traffic(construction) Friday

Sep 1, 2015, 11:05 AM

Headed up to Clemson from Charleston Friday at 3:30. Anyone know how much of a delay I might expect around the area of construction approaching Columbia for widening? Haven't traveled that direction since last football season, for all I know they may be done with the project but I doubt it.

Keeps you posted on what to expect up ahead and whether or not you need to bypass the trouble.

I drove that way last month and there was still construction and delays. Download the Waze app on your phone. It's pretty good at routing you around traffic. The traffic pattern could be different now, but it saved me some time to get off at exit 119 and get back on at exit 115.

Fridays can get pretty hairy, with increased weekend traffic

from about 135-to the I77 split.

I would expect pretty major delays. Last time we came back from Charleston we took 176 which runs roughly parallel to 26. The drive was much less stressful.

I've gone to Charleston 3 times in the last month.

To Chesterton on Friday nights. . Back on Sunday morning/afternoon. ..

I've only seen i26 west free flowing one time in those 6 passes.

Worst was on my back I hit stop and go 30 miles outside Columbia.

In all cases it was gone by the time you hit 77.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

Hoping for the best

I'll try the WAZE app as others have recommended. It seems anytime I try to get off Interstate and take side roads it ends up taking longer than if i'd just stayed on interstate.
