Any other Tigers on here

Sep 22, 2012, 1:57 PM

who live in or around Columbia and frequently find yourself wishing you lived somewhere else? At times, really wishing it?

Nah, i don't think it's that bad. I live on the lake though, not Columbia proper.

If you're in Lexington on Lake Murray...

then that's not Columbia and you've got lots of fellow Tigers in Lexington!

From Columbia, lived there summers when I wasnt

Sep 22, 2012, 2:44 PM

at Clemson. In Raleigh now which is SO MUCH NICER than crappy Columbia. There are actually things to do here, and no annoying Coots. Although the NCSU and UNC fans are pretty annoying...

I went to Spring Valley High School if anyone from Cola is from that area...

I've been here for over 40 years, although I've lived

Sep 22, 2012, 2:55 PM

in the NW on Lake Murray most of those years. I can't say I've ever thought of living elsewhere, as I have a good crowd of family and friends here now. I've always liked the location midway between the coast and mountains and enjoy events in the city. Once I founded my business over 30 years ago, Columbia was ideally located midway between accounts along the east coast. The Midlands area actually has a large contingent of Clemson grads and fans, and quite a large number of CU grads are native Columbians with family here. You'd be surprised, for once you get away from the USC campus, most Clemson or USC grads and fans have close friends, neighbors, business associates, fellow members of churches, clubs, etc. and family who support the other school. Yet in 40 years I don't recall a single instance of anger or ill-exchanged words with USC folks other than small kids carrying on, which is usually funny. So, we wear our colors, fly our flags, watch or attend our games, then go on about our business the rest of the week. And I can assure you from vast travels across the SE with my own business, every city, town, hamlet or rural crossing has its good and bad features.

Lastly, I'll add: I never get offended when others trash Columbia - God knows, we did it enough when I was at CU -I just choose conveniently to "forget" that USC is here! lol
