Conspiracy theories (long)
Oct 12, 2014, 12:54 AM
|
|
Now usually i pay no mind to conspiracy theories and am doing my best to remove my tin foil hat here. But something just seems fishy about this QB situation. I won't go into much detail of my "out there" thoughts as to whats going on, but Stoudt just seems to keep popping up. Guys lets be real here, a broken finger and out for 3-4 weeks? Breaking a finger bone can be painful, but there is nothing you can really do about the nagging pain other than tape the dang finger to another one and keep rolling. We aren't talking about a broken ankle, torn MCL/ACL, broken back or neck which any one of would effect your mobility rendering you ineffective on the football field....it's a finger. You got 4 more of them on that hand that are operating at 100% and where im from, 4 out of 5 ain't bad.
Even if it did effect his throwing some, a Watson behind center at 75% is better than a Stoudt behind center at 100%.
Hate on me if you want but Stoudt is not a good QB. He's clumsy, uncomfortable, makes rookie mistakes as a Senior and I will admit that i lack faith in his ability to lead the team.
The coaches begged stoudt to stay his last yr to be the starting QB after Boyd left instead of transferring and he agrees....coaches tell us all off season stoudt is the better QB when I have heard from many folks that attended the practices that Watson was in fact the better QB....Stoudt plays mediocre against UGA and FSU while Watson plays great when handed the opportunity and if it weren't for fan pressure, Watson probably wouldn't have started against UNC...Dabo has brought up his faith in Stoudt in almost every press conference even when he wasn't starting. He has gone above and beyond to convince us that Stoudt is good...Now Watson has a debilitating finger injury (sarcasm) and Stoudt will start again for the next 4 weeks.
Hmmmmmm.....

Broke in the hand from what I gather
Sounds like my hs football break...landed on my left index finger (jammed it)...pressure went back and broke the bone in my hand...
three screws and two weeks was all I needed but I wasn't throwing the football either
...he will need time

you need all your fingers on your throwing hand as a qb..how is he supposed to grip the ball or throw it with any accuracy?
don't use your index finger on your strong hand for a day and see how difficult life becomes

I've seen curt schilling win a World Series with blood pouring from his ankle (the one he pushed off the mound with for leverage)...I've seen Steve McNair play through a seperated Clavicle, sprained MCL, bruised ribs and a dislocated ring finger on his right hand...I've seen Brett Farve play with a broken finger on his right hand along with another dislocated finger on the same hand...I've heard that Johnny Unitas played with a broken hand and a punctured lung
There are many more examples

then entertain the notion that that was indeed ketchup..
I'd rather deshaun rest and heal up then risk fumbles left and right because he can't squeeze the ball..luckily the next 3 games are very winnable even with cole starting

you need to go to bed.
Although the bones in the hand are small, a broken (fractured) finger is not a minor injury. The bones in a normal hand line up precisely. They let you perform many specialized functions, such as grasping a pen or manipulating small objects in your palm. When you fracture a finger bone, it can cause your whole hand to be out of alignment.
There are many different types of breaks....Bones can break in several ways: straight across the bone, in a spiral, into several pieces, or shatter completely.
Taping 2 fingers together is for simple breaks or fractures or when a finger is jammed. When Watson was showing teammates where the break was, he was pointing toward the bottom of the finger into the knuckle area. In most cases like that, surgery is need to put pins in or just to straighten the bones.
You don't think the index finger is needed to grip a ball??? Try it sometime. SMH If you can;t grip the ball, mobility does not mean a thing.

Yeah it's unheard of to play through a broken finger...please see my post below with many examples of QBs and athletes playing through hand injuries.

You can play with a broken pinky. You can't play with a broken Index finger. It is pretty much attached to the thumb, and the pain and swelling would make it impossible to grip that ball.

Schilling was not pouring blood...he was bleeding from sutures coming lose.
Here is pic of his sock while pouring blood
McNair paid in the long run for playing with his injuries. Had multiple surgeries to correct the injuries. Ring finger is not as bad as index finger. Index finger affects the thumb. Try to grip and throw a football with broken index finger and swollen thumb. I will give you Farve and his play. But he retired because of his shoulder and secretly had surgery and then came back to play
BUT, they were getting paid a pretty penny to play football.
Injuries now are treated differently than back then. Injuries are treated immediately so there is not further damage now and long term. But if you think he could play, go on thinking that. It is your choice.

You need your index finger. Also, you need your thumb. If the break is in the hand below the knuckle in the index finger the pain and swelling also takes out the thumb and middle finger. So Watson essentially has two fingers left on his throwing hand to grip and throw the ball.

Dude with a injury on the second team and not much practice he played ok today . I bet with a full week of practice with the first team Cole will be more than ready to beat BC. He wants to do good and win, sometimes that's better than all the talent in the world.

Didn't take a snap, was minimally involved in the game plan. Morris basically went with the UGA game plan in the second half and Cole looked much better.

If I am not mistaken the broke finger is his index finger on his throwing hand. The index finger is VERY important to accurate passing. Some QB's issues have to do with this very thing. The ball tends to sail when the index finger is not on the ball threw the entire motion and more importantly, the release. What about pain, or numbness during the game? Finger gets hit, he fumbles, handling snaps under center or in the gun, taking snaps would be beyond a challenge. That woul be a turnover nightmare. No way he should play before its healed. Very Bad Idea.

To those of you that disagreed with my post but did it in a respectful way, thank you for the response.
Im not the only one on this board who thought the Watson vs Stoudt situation has been odd to say the least. I said after the UGA game that it was clear who was the better QB and although I'm not the head coach, I have eyes and it was easy to spot....most posters on this board vehemently denied for quite some time that Watson was the better option. So were they stupid or just blind to question any coaching decision less they be called a "dumper"
Is it so far fetched to believe that there was possibly a promise made to Stoudt and his father that to get him to stay they promised him the starting position after Boyd? Do you not think that Stoudt would have discussed the Watson situation with Dabo before agreeing to stay?
I'm not saying Watson isn't injured. Im saying that 4 weeks for a broken finger seems to be a bit excessive and the whole "conspiracy theory" (which was said in a joking way) was that Dabo/Morris may be overstating the injury in order to give Stoudt time behind center as the starter like he was told he would be.
You guys calling people stupid and an idiot bc you disagree with a poster/post have already proven with those comments that you have nothing useful to offer but I appreciate your feedback anyway.
We have two losses right now and can still put together a very successful season but in my opinion, Watson is the one to lead us there. I have a lot of hope left for us which is why I am questioning the injury and the motives behind the situation with Stoudt.
It's not criminal to ask questions abt player personnel or coaching decisions when you are a fan which I am die hard. Even if those questions involve some coach/player politics

Why don't u ask every team we have played this season how well Watson moved the ball when he was on the field. I don't have to make a case for Watson being a phenom. Check the stats bro
He was on the field for 2 or 3 series before his finger injury. Little tough to say he wasn't effective when he didnt have time to recognize the disguised coverages and blitz packages Louisville was running. ...so while I can't say much regarding what Watson would have done, what I can tell you is we scored 0 offensive touchdowns without him. Thats a fact.

Yes Sir you are correct. Just how many quarters has L'ville's defense not given up an offensive touchdown.
I agree that Watson gives the Tigers the best chance to move the offense.
Now Stoudt will be the man for the next 3-5 weeks.
