If you were Willie Taggart...

What would your steps be to pick up the pieces and rebuild the FSU program? What would Dabo do (this is a good question to ask yourself in lots of scenarios btw, not just FB related).

If it were me, I’d probably start with diverting some of my salary (he gets $5M per year, what’s a million or two for more, better staff?) to pay for more key staff and assistants to get more parity w other programs and to get better position coaches. Probably a couple new O-line specialists and work on the recruiting board for those positions, hard. Make a commitment that no matter who your QB is, they’ll never take the beating that Francois has taken over the past couple of years, because when I look at the program that def seems to be the most fundamental flaw.

WWDD? I’d say that this is a case of organizational management and culture rather than recruiting per se (they recruit well). If Taggart gets staff in there with the right mentality and who can set a positive example for players, FSU could be a worthy opponent again in a few years.

Have you seen his buy-out? I wouldn't change a thing.

Yes yes, of course I wouldn’t ACTUALLY want FSU to pull themselves out of their nosedive. This is just purely hypothetical.

I live in Tampa and have also followed USF football for years. Coach Taggart was not well liked by a huge percentage of USF alumni when he was here. He was here during the years 2013-2016 and his record was 24-25. Not so great. Like your typical SCAR coach. His last year, he started off at 2-2 and there were a great many murmurs to fire him. He finished 10-2 and bolted off to Oregon where he was 7-5 in 2017. My point is he is at best, a very average coach. Personally, I do not feel he is capable of doing any better than .500 wherever he lands. If I were he, I would look for another, less demanding job to spend a few years and sharpen my coaching skills.

Just curious

Why do you think money/being understaffed is the issue here? You don’t think FSU has an acceptable allotment of funds dedicated to the football program, staff, infrastructure? And is this including the $20mil pledge one of their boosters just gave?

I'd be sending my resume to all the group of 5 schools

so I can look like a good coach again.
