If you were a College HC making $4-$10 million a year..

Feb 5, 2022, 9:11 PM

what would you be doing with it (after your agent got his slice, your accountant socked some away for taxes & investments, your spouse got her allowance, etc)?

And, would you be scared to death that it would all come down due to some large group of 17-22 year old (not fully brain developed) jocks not scoring enough points to win at least 8 games each year to keep you from being fired?

1st question answer: I would buy a new boat, a new class B RV with bigger & more windows so to stick on more Clemson or travel decals, travel Europe in off-season, take more Shag Dance lessons at Fat Harold’s in Ocean Drive SC, buy waterfront lot at HHI on ICW side, buy a snazzy convertible (my 10th since college), etc..and pay off my student loan dating back to 1859 (meant 1959).

2nd question answer: I would have ulcers every throw, Int or fumble and would need someone like Venables @backup guy to carry my sack of Tums.

How bout you rich Coach?

Pay off everything I own, save $10M, then get an extension, put it on

Cruise control, then if things started going bad I’d subtly try to get fired and live on my buyout for a few years while my $10M is earning interest.

I think that was Urban’s plan this year, except he didn’t go the subtle route and hence messed up on buyout.

Have you shopped interest rates in the last 3 or 4 years? Buy some real estate.

Pretty much what you say Bill with truck and boat upgrades. My wife would demand the oceanfront 2nd home as well I’m afraid.

I love my job but I would retire early. I’d probably try to figure out a trust for the kids and grandkids.

I would be so nervous on the sideline I’d have to squat down like Danny and eat grass to get through every game. I wouldn’t chew red man or Levi Garrett though.

Bill, I think we should stay away from hiring 24 year old personal assistants named Clesi! ??

First off,I would be a model citizen.***

I’d find the hottest Boise State cheerleader

And hire her as my assistant and then I would clap the…

No, but for real, I’d build a really nice house and make sure I donated enough to have my name on a ton of stuff on campus for a very long time, invest some to make sure after football I had little limitations.

Pretty simple for me really.

I would have had my agent trying to land me an interview with Duke. Even I could win at least 8 games with the talent they have. Heck I Might even be able to win a home game in the NIT.

Put 4 tires and a nice paint job on my son's and my 1951 red Ford work truck, go to the doctor to get some help with my arthritis, and buy a brand new 27" color TV with a remote control.

First off I'd remodel the house, new chinking, brand new mud floor, fresh white washed walls in the living room, and extend my land all the way to Old Man Kelsey's Crick. Gotta keep up with the Darlings.

I'm with you Bill, I can't hardly watch games as a fan, as a coach I would be carried out on a gurney.
