The Batman ( spoilers inside )

Apr 30, 2022, 4:57 PM

Dark and everybody is dirty (except Commissioner). The Riddler gets in Batman's head. Catwoman is interesting and hawt. She is a real help to Batman. It's long. Bruce Wayne reminds me of Trent Reznor in appearance. Batman is badarse. That's all.

Tapped out of moon knight after three episodes.

Apr 30, 2022, 7:40 PM

Does it get better?

It gets weirder, not sure it's very good though.

Apr 30, 2022, 8:04 PM

Outside of Oscar Isaac's performance (which is very good). It's kind of cool to explore Egyptian mythology, but they aren't going super into that and the episodes are pretty all over the place with the story. They have one episode left and I have no idea how they're gonna leave it in a place that feels satisfying.

I think you would hate it.

If you made it 3 episodes, might as well go the other 3***

Did you like the ending?

Apr 30, 2022, 6:51 PM

I didn't at all and thought it really hurt the rest of the movie (as bad endings often do) but I wonder if I'm in the minority.

Hated it.

A) nobody asked for an emo Batman. Adam West was a more masculine Bruce Wayne.
B) His suit can withstand bullets at point blank range but not buckshot?
C) Why does the Batmobile look like it came from Mad Max?
D) why didn’t he just inject himself with the green stuff right away?
E) an Aussie Alfred? C’mon
F) NFW this thing needed to be 3 hours. Just pure self-indulgence by the director. 1 hour could have easily been cut from this film without losing anything.

John Turturro may be the only real bright spot in this thing.

I didn't hate it, but I agree with a lot of what you said...

Apr 30, 2022, 8:09 PM

A)Batman is the one Superhero I feel it's okay to make "emo" because that's always been part of the character to an extent. His dower and angry.

B)Agreed. Yet just a small part of the reason I really disliked the ending, lol.

C)Disagree 100% here. That car and the chase was the only "cool" part of the movie. My only gripe would be that most of it was shown in the trailer (which was way better than the movie, IMO)

D)BIG reason I hated the ending (outside of how anticlimactic it was overall). No explanation was given as to what it was or where it came from. The only reason it was introduced, seemingly, was to set up a possible villain for a future sequel. Awful writing.

E)lol

F)Agreed. Watch the trailer, it's MUCH shorter and hits same notes as the movie without the bad ending.

It also begs the question.

He faces a hailstorm of bullets from criminals who have presumably shot people before. Not one ever finds its way to that giant expanse between his chin and nose???

Suit is trash.

Apr 30, 2022, 11:17 PM

Threw in Kurt Cobain to make us parents like it. To that I say eat a ####. You don’t know me. Suit is trash. Where the heck is Christian Bale? How much could it have possibly cost to change his mind? Suit is trash.

Prefer Keaton over Bale for one important reason...

May 1, 2022, 5:25 PM [ in reply to Re: Suit is trash. ]

Keaton transformed into a different person once he wore the suit. Keaton as Bruce Wayne was this small, unathletic looking guy that, well, looked like a billionaire might. He was unassuming, affable, gave swanky parties, etc...

But once he put the suit on he looked taller, stronger, more menacing. He didn't have Bale's modified growl of a voice which was ridiculous (but not to the point of ruining the movies) mainly because it still sounded like Bale, just angrier. There wasn't nearly as much distinction between Bale as Bruce Wayne and Bale as Batman. It looked like Bale wearing a batsuit. That's not to say I didn't enjoy Bale's version so I'm not trying to say he was awful, and Dark Knight is a masterpiece, but Keaton is still my favorite version of the character in the movies.

The ONE area where I think Pattinson's version is better is that it focuses more on Batman being a detective.

If you've ever watched the cartoon version from the 1990s, it nails the character as a detective/noir character while also being exciting/action-packed. It's the best version of the character/world, while Keaton, IMO, is the best version in the movies.
