Why yes I did have a run in with law dog

this Friday. Glad you asked for the story. Here it is in numerical format.
1. Driving home from airport
2. Stop at grocery store to grab the stuff on wife's list
3. Cop pulls in behind me
4. Cop meets me at the back of my truck
5. "where did you get the lift and the tires on that truck"
6. Tell him all about the truck
7. Cop: you been drinking? Me: no, what makes you think that, its 3pm
8. Cop: You came into the parking lot really fast. Me: no I didn't, now can I get into the store?
9. Cop: Let me see your license. Me: why, am I getting a ticket? What did I do?
10. Cop: just show me your license. Me: no
11. Cop with hand on hips, "show me your license NOW". Me: whatever
12. Me: are you done being a tough guy now? Cop: why do you have a problem with me?
13. Me: you didnt even pull me over, you just followed me to play HOA cop and tell me to slow down
14. Cop: you have a smart mouth. Me: yes because I am trying to go to grocery store and then pick up my son and you are acting like I am a felon
15. Cop: slow down next time
Now here is the deal. This cop is new to the force and doesn't realize who all the people are in this town. He has been stopping everyone and asking if they are drunk, checking car seats, checking turn signals, all kind of bull-ish. It was just my turn and I was tired from hangover, flight and overall just tired. The dude needs to learn that this is a small town and quiet, this isnt freaking Detroit where he came from.

to begin with, you could have been done with the whole interaction way faster and NOT given him a reason to profile you for possible future incidents when you do do something, like a rolling stop.

Yes, cops can be dicks but the best way to deal with them or many other bwholes is to just let them run their mouth, say uh huh yeah sure, then leave knowing he can't do anything to ya.

if you can't exercise your white privilege a little? 
When I first moved to the booming metropolis of Chesnee they hired a guy from Charlotte to come in and be the night watch commander. He not only hassled the drivers but instead of introducing himself to the businesses he gave them a hard time about where their dumpster was or cars parking one inch over the edge of the edge of the sidewalk etc. It got so bad they had a city council meeting about him. He left and took a job with the Cherokee Cnty Sherriff's office where that kind of thing is encouraged.
Of course this is the town that for a while couldn't keep a Chief of Police for more than 6 months or so.

and told him how I am going fly fishing with the Mayor and Chief of Police in two weeks. Now that would have made me THAT GUY.
And I will not be THAT GUY and tell them about it. I will just keep my get out of jail free card. Which I am not sure what that would be used on as I don't drink and drive and I dont get into fist fights.....so I am unsure of when I would use it.

except for the time they caulk blocked me. They made up for it though by letting me shoot a 9 through the cruiser after we set it on fire.

we currently have a townie in the town I work that pulls everybody over for turn signals and searches them.
He's about to be fired for pulling over the mayor and pulling that ########.
Also had one that was pulling over everybody in the town next door that has a very bad drug problem.
Problem is he was pulling over the drug runners from the cartels. The chief even said, you learn which cars to just let go through.
They moved him somewhere else because he was about to be on a live leak video.

I wish all of their cops could come here for our police work. In 90% of the country, the results would be fantastic.
As I think about this, I think a lot of them would be killed in the other 10% of the country.
Culturally, they're just more polite over there, and even when they're not, it sounds like they are.
