I didn't even read the article just scanned a few parts and what I gathered is that South Carolina football can't even sell South Carolina football, they're having to sell Spurrier and to their credit it worked to a certain extent. Spurrier is in a great situation for his ego because he knows he is South Carolina football. When they go into a recruits house South Carolina University may not even be on the list of talking points its all about Spurrier. Thats why Dabo is so good at what he does, when he talks Clemson football he talks about a brand about a program and getting that Paw to as many places as possible. Thats how you sustain, you sell your program. South Carolina is falling hard and fast and the reason is because that place sells Spurrier. They're not worried about making their football program a brand they're worried about Spurrier. With them its always the first thing out of their mouths, Spurrier this Spurrier that. So go ahead and try and sell a 70 year old man to 16, 17, 18 year olds because none of them were alive in Spurrier's heyday and we'll worry about a brand and a program on this side of the state....

The only thing that they have that we can't compete with now, is the 10000 or so that most other SEC teams bring to games. Our conference friends, other than FSU don't bring 500.

Outcome - a loser.

I used to not hold much weight to the coaching graveyard talk, but after watching Spurrier turn from legend to ultimate loser I can't help but re-evaluate my thought on the matter.
