If you don’t have any experience doing something you should never be given a chance

is a philosophy that would’ve failed Clemson big time.

that truly does require significant training and experience like brain surgery.

However, Dabo is an anomaly. Most of the time, those gambles wouldn’t be nearly as likely to work compared to those who have gone through the usual preparatory phase.

groomed to do. Every brain surgeon has their first time doing it with no experience.

Is this what happened to Lefty?***

Yes, they do it with lots of supervision and help by others

who are more experienced.

Being thrust into a position where you are completely in charge doesn't happen when learning to do brain surgery.

True, but it isn't like Dabo is tapping into the FGF or TNet ban list for options. Our new Coordinators have a LOT of experience but even the brain surgery world places a LOT on "talent" than say strictly experience. The educated, trained, young "talent" could would likely be a better surgeon than the "experienced but less talented". Experience helps but only with those able to learn from it. I bet on talent over experience all day (see TL16 vs KB2).

It all depends on what is the nature of the task. Anyone can be a lawyer. You can even represent yourself. You can't do surgery on yourself. It's illegal. You'd get arrested, and then you'd get a free lawyer.

Heck we all thought Dabo hit a home run hiring Steele from Alabama. What could go wrong?! Wasn't he the only person Dabo ever fired in 13 years?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dabo also fired him when he didn’t get the job done.

Dec 15, 2021, 9:30 AM

Dabo also has a lot more experience at this point in his career than he did then which will likely mean a better decision than the Kevin Steele hire. BTW all of the experience and success was on K Steele’s resume. Steele checked all the boxes for a great hire. All of the things you guys are asking Dabo to look for now are what failed him with that hire.

You are mistaken. I am happy with the in house hires. I was pointing out how terrible getting a big name from outside the program could be.
