commented on Clemson and said something to the effect of he would be interested to see if Dabo adjusted and learned how to win with Defense rather than Offense. So, what would a coach do differently for a team strong on O vs a team strong on D? I have some thoughts based on how D won in the 80's but things are different now.

To me the question means: can we play more of a possession, clock-eating style of offense? I think specifically about how we abandoned the run after halftime vs. Scar two years ago for no apparent reason and watched the coots control the ball and clock as we went thre-and-out in desperation. Had we stuck with what was working, the streak ends at three.
Keep our defense fresh and we're a contender. Keep the opponent's defense fresh and we win only the games we're "supposed" to.

Limit the possessions that the other team gets

I don't care how good a defense is, if you give the other team 10-15 possessions they will put points on the board.

If we play more ball control and slow down the pace, then we know he's trying to help the defense win the game.

If we punt at the 50 instead of going for it on 4th, he's trying to win with defense.

But I don't think that we will go to that extreme. He's still just going to ask the D just to play to a draw or better.

I don't think dabo knows how to reel ccm in. ccm will push tempo as always and as usual we will have an extended spurt (2-5 series) where we do not get a first down or we get one first down then punt. The defense will be thrown back on the field to hold the bulldogs. If they respond we win, if not we lose.

Winning with a strong defensive team is about ball control, and field position. It's been documented that you will see much more running of the football this year. We have a stable of backs that are more than capable of giving quality carries. We also have a good punter and cover unit, or at least we did last year.. So IMO a steady dose of the run, or at least high percentage throws, and kicking when you should kick = playing to our strengths this year.

I think the Oregon guy was referring to slowing down on Offense.

I don't think we will slow down at all. I think we still want 80-90 plays a game, just with better defense.
