If we make CFP, do we see M. Williams

Nov 1, 2015, 11:55 AM

Obviously his health is the most important thing, but given the timetable do you think there is a chance we see Mike Williams back if we make CFP.

Given the timetable we were initially given, I think there is a chance.
I think he's gone after next year along with #4, so helping his team go for the national title may be more important than the medical redshirt. Thoughts?

I wonder what kind of playing shape he'll be in?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wonder this myself

Nov 1, 2015, 12:36 PM

I am sure he is staying in some sort of shape, but I wonder how much...

He wouldn't have to be in great shape for 8-10 plays***

Maybe but I doubt it

no medical Red-Shirt

Nov 1, 2015, 12:08 PM

My guess is he plays in the CFP or bowl. He may actually play in the ACCCG but we'll see.

Glad you mentioned...is he not eligible for a med-redshirt?***

He is eligible for a Medical Redshirt, but it won't happen. My guess is we have seen him take his last snap in a Clemson jersey. I believe he will declare for the draft and be taken late first early second.

So, your feel is, because he's leaving anyway, he cld blow the medical redshirt

Nov 1, 2015, 12:38 PM

and play in the CFP? Otherwise, nobody would blow a season of eligibility for one or two games, especially considering he would only be at 80% (most likely) playing shape, and would have been reduced to a minimal role, with the chemistry that's already here and got us to that point.

He'll be back. The NFL won't take a chance with guaranteed

first round money on him at this point. He can come back, prove his neck is fine, get stronger, put up big time numbers with a great quarterback and offensive line and running back stable and be a top 20 pick.

Since Dabo's ambiguous coach's speak isn't always forthcoming with a lot of facts(i.e.: tells us 3 weeks ago Williams was getting off his hard brace and going to a soft on. Then last week he repeated the same thing) I think Williams and Seth Russell's injuries are similar and he is out for 6 months the same should be expected for Williams.

The O is starting to flow without him it took a few weeks but I really don't think you risk his health.

He will be back if we have a shot at the National championship. Pretty sure he would like to be part of that. Don't think he's interested in coming back if they keep projecting him as a #1 pick

I hope so. He'd make us even more dangerous.

Lots of time before then, though. I'm actually more concerned with keeping Hyatt, MacLain, Guillermo and Watson healthy.

You could add Boulware, Lawson, Kearse to that list. I would be fine going into the CFP at our current state of health.

Yes. We will have a month between ACC champ game

Nov 1, 2015, 12:59 PM

and playoff. Plenty of time to get him back in the grove.
