The problem is that the fans' expectations are too high, according to Deptula. The fans are spoiled, he said.
Gee, I wonder why? Does it have anything to do with the fact that Walt has been jacking up the fans for the last three months?

Walt said for months Clemson and Oklahoma were the two teams that fit his National Champion criteria. He claimed Bama was going to have a rough season with all they had to replace on offense, but now we as fans had too high of expectations because Clemson has 9 players on offense playing new positions.

Was I expecting a natty this year? No, but I was expecting better than 120th out of 130 in offense with the talent and coaching we have. If I expected at top 100 offense, I'd be disappointed at this point.
Criticism isn't fairweathering; I've supported the Tigers long before 2021 and will, God willing, support for many years after. We're being told to smile while this team serves us a crap sandwich every saturday.

for me; not that we aren't going to win another natty, or not that we aren't blowing out everybody we play, or not that we haven't won every game, or not that we have looked a little rough. No, what bothers me is just how God-awful it really is, and anybody who says that's exagerrating or being over dramatic is in total denial and has their head up their ace because out offense flat out stinks.

Yes I expected us to be in the CFP! The ACC is awful. There was absolutely no reason not to run the table after the UGA loss. That would not be my expectations this year.
All we needed was to have a top 50 offense to get there. That is not asking too much.
Oh and Tony has still not ran high tempo.

Too high? By nearly every account out there we were an essential lock for the playoffs and a leader to win it all. Now we sit at 2-2 after losing to 2 mediocre mid-pack ACC teams. But, ok, who TF are we to expect better than that. Unreal.

Walt speaks out of both sides of his mouth. He praised DJ as the second coming and in some ways better than Trevor and that he wouldn't be surprised if his numbers weren't better than TL. It sounds like he is talking himself off of the ledge as much as the fans.

He predicted us to win the ACC and be a part of the CFP before the season started and even after the Georgia game. Now, it’s our fault for our expectations being too high?
Where’s his accountability for being wrong prior to the season, and now? I guess his story just changes week to week forgetting the previous stories he’s told and predictions he’s made.

He used to be a good analyst, but he’s fallen prey to the fact that WCCP has become nothing more than a mouthpiece of the Clemson athletic department. No one on that station has the balls to offer up any criticism of Clemson coaches anymore, Or perhaps they’ve been told they better not or the show will be canceled

We’ve been in the playoffs 6 straight years, we’ve won the Natty twice, the conference, the rivalry game, and recruiting has not dropped off. How is it possible that our expectations would not be sky high? It’s almost like a section of the fan base believes we aren’t worthy of our lofty perch and are spoiled for not being willing to step down. Like we should just say thank’s for the good times and pass it all back to the Bama’s, OSU’s, etc.

That’s weak! We most certainly deserve to be the best, because we have done what it takes to get there.

It’s human nature to expect the current standard set by your team.
We have become a fixture in the playoffs. We were in everyone’s preseason top 5 this year. Our QB was on some preseason Heisman Trophy lists. And our coach has raved about this team and it’s potential throughout fall camp.
When things go south, fans will naturally be disappointed. If we had lost to Georgia but taken care of business against Georgia Tech and NC State, our fans would understand. If we had some drop off in offense this year after losing the talent we did from last year, fans would be patient.
But we are way, way worse on offense this year. There is no excuse for a team with our talent level to rank near the bottom in most key offensive categories. NONE.
So please spare me the criticism of our fans right now. Anyone who isn’t disgusted by our offense right now is no better a fan than those who are calling for coaches to be fired.
