SEC teams do not get punished for losing to other SEC teams. If A&M loses to Miss State they would drop a spot and Miss State would join the top 25 even with a losing record.

If the next opponent of the leading SEC and Big10 teams wins, they will move up in the rankings before they meet those teams...that is how the rankings work...it does not matter about anything else...the Alabama, Georgia, Ohio st,etc opponents must move up in the polls before they play them!
Alabama plays Missouri next week, they are now 2-1...if they win against anybody, they will be ranked!
Georgia vs Arkansas next week...so Arkansas will get every benefit of doubt, move up drastically if they win, and not fall if they lose!
Ohio St vs Rutgers (3-0), if Rutgers beats Podunk U by 1, they will be ranked
Michigan vs Iowa (2-1), Iowa win against Rutgers by 1, and they will be ranked.
Tennessee vs LSU (2-1), LSU beats New Mexico by 1 and they will be ranked.
That is how it works! The pollsters do this first every week, then tries to fill in the gaps with the other teams.
