That was on April 13. I know correlation is not equal to causation, but this sure looks suspicious. Did the FDA/CDC help destroy confidence in the vaccines?

but the situation is interesting, meaning one can slice it 2 ways.

For me, I think they were likely overly cautious. The way I look at things, I would want the FDA to be overly cautious and the fact that they are gives me more confidence in their approvals.

However, many/most seemed to have viewed the pause as a signal that there were big issues with the vaccines and it likely hurt vaccination rates.

Are you saying the polls regarding confidence in the vaccine stayed high after the J&J pause? Is that your recollection, or do you have the data?

because of one overwhelming reason, then we wouldn't wonder what that reason is. There have been polls all along regarding vaccination rate, vaccine hesitancy, etc. and you can simply google results from April and May to see if the J&J pause scared people that much.
