That would make two of you. Clemson has no opening for a head basketball coach.

Real easy to make an opening! Pay his buyout and pack his office! Happens everyday in college sports.

Yes, but Neff has already stated that he is keeping Brownell. Only way Neff could get rid of Brownell and save face is for Brownell to resign. Don’t think he will do that.

It DOESN’T HAPPEN!!!!!!

What Dusty has done has only been done TWICE before, and 6 times by all seeds lower than 9.

You don’t navigate through the talent of the NCAA Tournament to the Final 4 if you don’t know how to coach a basketball team WELL!

Your argument is that what is done in the PRESENT does NOT matter AT ALL, and that the ONLY thing that matters is the PAST!

That is short sighted and absolves yourself of any serious introspection of the here and now and the REALITY of the present.

Do you think the last 13 years matters?

OK…let’s just analyze CBB based on THIS LAST YEAR…

1

Mar 26, 2023, 10:20 AM

…the record shows egregious performance swings against the best and the worst level of competition, with clear evidence of a loss of respect and control by the head coach. Remember CBB’s claim that his players would not execute his game plan?

Factor in a coach pouting about his belief that his team deserved an 8th or 9th seed in the tournament only to LOSE the next game to a severely under-talented team (this is a questionable statement), blowing a 15 point early lead.

Yeah, you’re right. I’d forget the past 12 years and FIRE HIM based on ONLY what happened this LAST year!

Why would he leave when he could stay where he is at and perhaps win a National Championship? He could very easily turn that program into the second coming of Gonzaga if he likes the school and chooses to stay. Beside all that, Clemson has a good coach already. I am very optimistic for next year. Third in the ACC after being picked to finish, what was it, 11th? That’s extremely encouraging.

P.S. I saw history history this year. I was lucky to see my Tigers be in first place in the ACC after the month of January! Holy cow! I still can’t believe that. I had to screenshot the standings. I never thought I’d ever have the good fortune to see that, but I also never thought I’d live to see the day Clemson win at Chapel Hole. For all the negativity toward Coach Brownell and his teams, they have all made history at Clemson, and we’ve been able to experience historic things during his time at Clemson. I know it ain’t the popular opinion with some, but I’m encouraged by Coach Brownell and his staff for next season. Go Tigers!

Do you consider records set by 5th year players to be significant when compared to players that only had 4 years to play? Or should they rightly be set in context? Because comparing Brad's accomplishments in a 20 game rotating schedule to his predecessors is the same thing. None got to play a 20 game schedule. None got to play in a 15 team league. Those are hard facts. More subjective but still real - the only question is how significant is the impact - is that every coach before Brownell coached in a tougher league. Purnell had a rotation when it became a 12 team league - but it was still far more competitive AND you still played more teams twice. This years was a perfect storm of mediocrity and it was reflected in the No. 3 team in the conference being left out of the NCAA. It wasn't an accident. It wasn't an oversight.
