Listening to that Dude on the podcast someone posted...

May 16, 2012, 4:24 PM

There more this guy talks, the more I think he knows waaaaaay to much that NO ONE else knows... Starting to believe less and less of this.

IMO, he's trolling the country singlehandedly

Check out Greg Swaim's twitter...

seems to be pretty reliable. He's been all over expansion before

Hey York, what is all this stuff about the Techies trying to

May 16, 2012, 4:56 PM

take our spot?

Here are my thoughts on that...

May 16, 2012, 5:03 PM

1. FSU and Clemson have always been the 2 the Big XII covets. GT is seen as a possible 13 team, if interested. The only way GT goes before Clemson is if Clemson flat out says "no".

2. There are no gaurantees ghat GT would go. They may feel their better than the Big XII and reach out to B1G.

3. Personally, GT is in if Big XII wants to go to 14. If they go to 12, it's FSU and Clem.

It just sounds like GT is trying to muscle into this

May 16, 2012, 5:06 PM

after realizing what is going to happen to the ACC. I think Clemson and FSU are the 2 but I don't know what political power the Atlanta/GT connection could have in this decision.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

GT's only hope is that Big XII goes to 14.....which, I think

May 16, 2012, 5:09 PM

They would if GT was interested and they could also get a VT... They'd be crazy not to.

The only issue then becomes the buyouts.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

The biggest benefit of inviting GT is not the ATL TV market.

May 16, 2012, 5:08 PM [ in reply to Here are my thoughts on that... ]

it's GT's academic reputation that could be be used to lure Notre Dame.

Thst still doesn't put Clemson out...

May 16, 2012, 5:15 PM

If FSU and GT are 11 and 12(to lure ND).,, you still need a 14 if ND joins.

That's exactly right.

May 16, 2012, 5:20 PM

The move to the Big XII would be more appealing, at least for me, if the league could set-up an East and West Division with the East being comprised of teams like Clemson, FSU, Georegia Tech and Virginia Tech.

There's certainly no denying....

May 16, 2012, 5:57 PM

that the only times GT sellsout is when Clemson or UGA come to town.

If ND not interested in ACC with GT and

UVa, Duke, etc., why does Big XII think ND would be interested in just GT? Surely even Texas doesn't believe they are academically superior to the combination of UVa, Wake, Duke, and UNC.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well...right now, Notre Dame doesn't have to do anything

May 16, 2012, 6:16 PM

and probably won't unless and until the remnants of the ACC and the Big East lose their automatic BCS Bowl tie-in at whic time neither the Big East nor the ACC will be a viable option for Notre Dame.

I feel like the pitfall in all of this could be a few peoples speculation aka "sources" and then taken and reported as fact by others... everyone starts spreading the news that may not be new and suddenly eveyone in the nation is talking about it and the only "real" facts are all the involved schools saying that nothing is happening. Then all the speculators call them liars.

Just a thought.
