If I ran a sports betting operation, I'd be giving odds Roy Williams

Jan 23, 2020, 3:36 AM

hangs up his whistle after the 2019-20 season. He's too old to handle this very demanding job & especially with no deep bench full of top level talent. He's (pretty sure) very close to Mack Brown's & Saban's age (68-69-70). Too old to handle the HC job in FB or BB unless he's got lots of talent ready to storm in & take him from worst to first. Roy seems disgusted with himself & his team & this year is screaming at him - "GET OUT!!!!" I think he WILL get out. It's not worth it at age 69-70, & Roy don't need the $$$$ or something "to do" in his twilight years. My "virtual betting operation" says Roy is gone after '19-'20.

He is only 69. Trump is 73 and runs America. Roy isn't too old.

Coach K is 72. Should he hand it up as well? I'm not saying Roy doesn't, but I don't really think that it would be because of age.

He might do a Spurrier

As good of a coach Roy has been for so many years, unfortunately for him, his legacy will always be about him being the ONLY coach at UNC to lose to CLEMSON at Chapel Hill. 'nuff said.

As for doing a "spurrier", his yellow streak on his back is possibly big enough to do that. He's not just scared of CLEMSON, he's scared of EVERYBODY.

So what odds would you give?

I'd bet a ####load that Roy stays.

He would not leave voluntarily after a year like this.

I'll bet you he doesn't.

Let me know the amount you want.

You must not know of the infusion of new talent he has signed for the next class. Five of the top 55 prep players[ESPN ranks] are headed to UNC next season. With any carryover from this years team, they will be loaded--ala Duke & Kentucky.

And he is definitely better at utilizing elite talent than coaching and developing talent that isn't elite.
