If I had to make a top 6 playoff ranking today

So, feet to the fire, if I had to make a completely unbiased ranking as everything sits today I like to think that I could be fair. Depending on how the rest of the season plays out a lot of this can change but being fair and honest I think what LSU has done especially offensively has been impressive. Not quite as sold on Ohio State but on paper their wins look good. So: 1- LSU 2- 0310 3- Clemson 4- PSU 5- Alabama 6-Oregon
I know some on here will consider this blasphemy, but LSU has beaten some pretty good darn teams. I give them credit for that as should we all. Ohio St? Their best wins are always against teams who beat really bad teams, so we will see. I personally think the Big10 is always overhyped, but Bucks are doing their job just like we are, so let's see. What do ya'll have?

Pretty fair assessment, but having watched both

Alabama and PSU I think Bama would easily beat PSU. So I would switch those two.

I agree with your assessment.
But, if we're going to play that game I'd put Clemson #1 because we'd beat LSU badly.

Safe to assume their running game wouldn't help them much .

With a third of a season and CGs yet to be played why would anyone be compelled to spend time on ranking teams? The only thing we know for sure is today’s rankings won’t reflect reality after all games are played

Because its Friday, and I love to discuss college football. I enjoy the game, and the banter and rivalry that comes with it. Maybe we should just wait and discuss it mid January?

Can't ever list them 2nd. The good thing is, when I take off my orange tinted glasses, this year they are #1

1. LSU 2. 031O State 3. Alabama 4. Clemson
5. Penn State 6. (T) Oregon/UGA
My opinion, based on performance(s) to date.
I still feel VERY GOOD about our Tigers winning it all.

Based on how I think the committee will see them:
1. LSU 2. O310 St 3. Alabama 4. Clemson 5. Penn St 6. Winner of Georgia/Florida
Who's best:
1. Clemson 2. Alabama 3. LSU 4. Oklahoma 5. O310 St 6. Penn St

I don't know that much about Oregon, but I do think LSU is the best team so far, having beaten both Florida, and Auburn. I would put Penn State above Ohio State, right now, with Clemson third, Ohio State, Bama and Oregon in the last 3 slots.

are top 6 material. Swap Clemson and Ohio State and I think you have it about right in your top 4..... for the time being. I believe Clemson will end up being the champs when it’s all said and done.

I love November. The is when "the rubber meets the road". I think we will be #1 or #2 in final rankings. Clemson has what it takes to repeat this year!
Initial rankings will be:
1. LSU 2. Ohio St 3. Clemson 4. Bama

Just curious..........

what "metric" do you use the most??
"eye test" OR resume OR BOTH?
reason I ask is you have Clemson 2 spots above Alabama..........BOTH have very similar resumes (ie have beaten NOBODY). BOTH have blown out everybody w/ the exception of Clemson's close win vs UNC. IMO they should be back to back and flip a coin as to who's higher, they're essentially the same/similar when comparing eye test AND resume.
also Penn State have a couple of "better wins" than Clemson

That is a great question. I Think your assessment is fair, but it would definitely include the eye test which is always a part of the process, even to the committee I would think. Because of that, I truly believe that in at least one of their regular season games, Alabama will prove they are not "Bama". Running game is meh IMO and the defense isnt nearly as good as in years past. I have seen a lot of mediocre teams move the ball quite easily agaisnt them and believe that LSU will torch them minus a bunch of turnovers. Time will tell, but I am also interested in seeing DBs actually contest catches and bump their WRs off the line as opposed to the free running 15 yards from a DB they have done. So no metric or solid data.. ita just a Friday morning and I am speculating just like many others as I wait for my next client to show up ??
