Venables enjoyed Clemson's back yard effort against Auburn

Brent Venables and his Clemson defense will be in their own back yard this Saturday when the Tigers host Troy, but the fifth-year defensive coordinator made it plain Tuesday that sometimes it’s fun playing in someone else’s yard.

We know the offense is going to come around.

But it's really encouraging to see the defense play so well considering the youth of the group. As this defense gains experience, there really going to be tough!

If Brent is happy and is excited these guys are beyond where

Sep 6, 2016, 8:07 PM

He expected them to be and he is giving credit to the DL coaches and bragging that they have proven to be the best in the business and have worked hard with these guys growing them up then I'm excited where our defense will be as the year goes along.

Our offense will be awesome with Deshaun and I'm not even worried about that but having our defense playing lights out on the road and Brent happy should be a sign to all of us that we are on track to be the best in college football this year as our guys grow week by week. If we had played at Auburn last year 1st game would we have played as well against that defense?

It might have been a loss last year because it took time but our players and coaches have worked out hard to be better this year and I believe we will be better each and every week.

I have no doubt we will beat Louisville and FSU, it won't be easy but these guys will get it done with the best defense and offense in the nation.

Go Tigers!!

CBV, you certainly have my permission to stay DC at CU

for the rest of your career. Not that my say matters, but I don't think I'm alone in thinking/saying that he is as good as there is in the business, and would prefer if he stays here. I hope he's as happy as he seems to be as a DC, because we're privileged to have him. Maybe it just that I want it to be true, but he seems like a lifelong DC. If so, we're in luck!

Thanks once again for an amazing job this year Coach Venables!
