Obligatory “How dare you criticize our coach and team. Be glad for what we have” post

There’s always one every few posts looking to gain brownie points.

Those post make me want to puke. Every single week we have at least 10+ of those "be grateful" holier than thou posters. None of us are ungrateful. We just want our team to succeed to our highest potential and put ourselves in the best situation to win. And if questioning or disagreeing with coaches on their malarkey, decisions of late, and being annoyed with our #### poor offensive play makes us bad fans, then I'll be ###### I'm one of the worst fans around.

Truth & Dabo should be criticized to the level he criticizes

Nov 28, 2022, 11:24 PM

This “I have a monopoly on what’s right” mentality is embarrassing and surprising to me.

“I’m old and I remember when we as fans were grateful to go to the Idaho Potato Bowl in 1963 and we had to sit on frozen bleachers in a blizzard. We had loss to the gamecocks 6 of the past 7 years!!!
You’re all bozos and losers and whiny #### heads who don’t appreciate what saint Dabo has done for us all!!!!
Shut up and get off my lawn!!”

I SHOULD HAVE PUT THIS IN ALL CAPS TO SHOW HOW ANGRY I AM AT YOU COMPLAINERS!

Idaho Potato Bowl was in 2001

Mediocrity and not pursuing excellence will in short fashion put us back in the potato bowl. We were in the cheese bowl last year.

Imagine thinking that because we went to the potato bowl in 1963 that it's ok for 2022 Clemson to not be able to throw a decent forward pass. Man the mental gymnastics to justify this mess is crazy.

It's not honest criticism that bothers most

Nov 29, 2022, 8:22 AM

It's the knee jerk, hyper-emotional, word salad rants from those that know nothing of the true situation yet believe they have the solution to every issue. Normally that solution consists of bench'm or fire'm

And what is the true situation striperfan? I mean that with all due respect? Fans were concerned last year, but we were told things would be “fixed”. When Dabo or Streeter are asked questions, and they are fair questions, they become defensive and take on a “how dare you doubt us” attitude. This has been going on for 2 years. Fans don’t need specific details, if there are personal issues with DJ or whatever player, but lose the ego and attitude and give some common sense, gracious answers. That would go a long way.
This man is getting paid 11 million/year and his assistants are well paid. They all need to grow thicker skin. Most of us fans don’t make that kind of money, yet we’re told to come support the team on Saturdays, spend hundreds of dollars on tickets, gas, hotel, food, then told to basically shut up and take it when we ask questions about the crap football we just witnessed.

I'd say that's kept close to the vest by the staff

Nov 29, 2022, 9:06 AM

as it should be.

I can tell you it's not this, as has been said ad nauseum on this board for 2 years. That the coaches have an absolute commitment to DJ as QB at the expense of the teams success. He's out there for one reason, as much as we may not like it, and that is they feel he gives us the best chance to win

TP was clamored for continuously last year. You think him or DJ gave us the best chance to win? This year it's Cade, and even some saying Hunter Johnson, who came here to coach. Give them a chance! They get a chance every week in practice. If they gave us the best chance to win, and it was clear to the coaches and team, they'd be out there.

To suggest otherwise is to say Dabo puts one player above all. Honestly, if that were the truth, you really believe there'd be peace on the team and locker room? Every person, staff or player, wants to win. For right now, frustrating as it has been, Dj is viewed by staff, and team, as the best path towards that.

I don't think it's unreasonable to question why CK hasn't

Nov 29, 2022, 9:16 AM

more. If DJ is the best we got, we've got major problems. If DJ practices well, something's not translating to actual games.

It's fine to question. It's unreasonable to refuse to believe the answer.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We have the problem of having a QB

Nov 29, 2022, 9:35 AM [ in reply to I don't think it's unreasonable to question why CK hasn't ]

not good enough to lead us to the playoffs. So you don't think the staff understands that? That if Cade or Hunter Helms could, that they wouldn't be playing?

Heck, you have many here saying that if Cade is not good enough to do that as a true freshman, he's a bust. Can there be a more stupid take?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly...

Nov 29, 2022, 9:07 AM [ in reply to It's not honest criticism that bothers most ]

and the posting of "facts" and "solutions" with 0 effort done to research what they are saying. There is a reason they are telling someone who is successful how they'd do it if they were them.

There's nothing wrong with criticism. There is something wrong with wishful thinking blather.

The reason we are in this situation isn't because of Streeter, Goodwin, Dabo. The reason we are in this situation is because the top players that were coming here 4 or 5 years ago are now going to other places.

There is only one way to fix this, which is to find a new angle to convince top recruits to come here. Anything else is pissing in the wind.
