Texas
Missouri
Florida
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Georgia
Alabama
Would be interesting..
One thing is for sure - College football as we know it is about to change and Clemson has some extremely important decisions to make.

Those games can still take place. I enjoy when Clemson plays SEC schools. Always have. However, Clemson belongs in the ACC. To me, it was an Upper South Conference before all the northern additions started happening. Clemson is an Upper South school, but that’s just my opinion.

The ACC is the controller of schools playing sports, Clemson don't belong to the ACC!!! Clemson belongs to where what it does best in sports that will better serve Clemson!!!

If we assume that Texas and Oklahoma are indeed joining the SEC as schools 15 and 16, and the SEC wants to add two more to go to 18 and stop there, then I would not want to make that move.
However, if the SEC is planning on completely taking over the world and wants to go to 20 or 20+ schools, and if we get to bring along some regional friends that care about football, then I would want to be a part of that. Basically, I would only want to do it if we have a block of friends with us and because not making that move would leave us in the have-nots.

According to the rumor mill from a few years ago, I think I remember reading something on here about a secret pact between Clemson, FSU, and GT that we all stick together no matter what happens. This time, GT may be left holding Charlie Brown's trick-or-treat bag full of rocks when this thing is over

The one big thing that Georgia Tech has going for them is Atlanta.
The other thing they have going for them is their AAU membership. That, as well as being in Atlanta, would probably be appealing to the B1G if the SEC did not take them (in this fantasy scenario).

$EC already has long term deal with E$PN. Will there now be more pieces of that one pie? Each school getting less revenue?

I don’t think there would be a choice if the SEC decided to go to 20 teams. We either move up to the east side or move down to the west side.

There is a lot I disagree with, as far as the SEC goes, but love him or hate him, Greg Sankey (maybe I screwed that up), has done what he’s supposed to, advanced and promoted the SEC.
There’s also a lot I dislike about the ACC. Whether it was the ACC Network deal or Notre Dame, he has left the ACC in a mess. We’re years behind the SEC and Big 10. If it wasn’t for Clemson, the ACC would be on the level of the MAC.
Clemson isn’t going anywhere, but if they did go to the SEC, I wouldn’t be too upset.
The SEC is setting it up to be able to tell the NCAA to kick rocks. They will be too powerful and big to go up against. It’s not right, but the ACC better get to adding some schools…..

Clemson to be stable and competitive. If that means the SEC, then so be it.
But I have never understood the conference pride thing. I would never chant ACC and sure as heck would not do that in the SEC.

As I have said earlier, why would anyone in the SEC East want those two in the conference. That would push Bama and Auburn into the East and make the Championship game almost impossible for anyone else than Bama to get into. It would almost guarantee the Coots 5 losses each year before the season started.

If Texas and Oklahoma go to the SEC, then absolutely. I don’t want Clemson left on the outside looking in being the only top ten level football team in our conference right now. Ohio state and Michigan and Penn state would be in a weird spot too. With Oregon and USC.
Plus I would much prefer to watch Clemson play Georgia, Florida, alabama, lsu. Those are exciting match ups.
The SEC is definitely full of itself and some years way over rated. Like constant benefit of the doubt in rankings beating each other boosting each other. But even the overrated years they have still been the best conference or at least an argument as best.

Money is the reason for anyone to move. Sooner or later if schools don't start doing what is right for the game then it's over for everyone. College Football needs a nation wide appeal.
If certain schools or parts of the country feel they don't have a chance then the game will suffer.

If these rumors are true and Clemson doesn't move then in the near future our Tigers could be on the outside looking in. Also this has much bigger implications in that if the SEC goes to 20+ and another mega conference emerges we could be looking at the end of the NCAA as we know it....

Well, there is that pesky little $50 million exit tax for any school that leaves before the current “grant of rights” fees agreement with ESPN that doesn’t expire until 2036. Every ACC program signed the agreement as part of ESPN and the ACC creating the ACC television network in 2019.
Notre Dame also signed the agreement as part of the ACC in all sports except football. So they can’t go anywhere other than the ACC. Unless they want to pay $50 million.

But I would love to see Clemson in the SEC. Why? Why not? First and foremost....better games. Playing the same old weak teams year in and year out is so boring. And Clemson has stronger rivals in the SEC. South Carolina, Georgia be and Alabama. We don't really have any interesting rivals in the ACC.
Second reason..... speaking of rivals....the UofSC game would be a conference game. This would free up a spot for us to play anyone we choose. Plus it gives that game so much more meaning.
Third reason.....$$$$$$$$$$$$$! Clemson will make far more money.
And reason number 4: recruiting. Yes we are doing well in recruiting at the moment. But in the SEC we would do even better. Plus, we would have a multi billion dollar corporation promoting us.
But it's all for not. The SEC will NEVER invite Clemson!

The allure of better games.
The vision of the next 5-10 years and with NIL, the playoff expansion and transfer portal…recruiting will be affected dramatically in a way that the ACC could suffer.

Not sure if we wouldn’t ever be invited. Immediately we would become the elite team aside from Bama. They would hate us.

AT this point, I think going to the SEC is our only option unless we could convince FL, UGA and ND to join the ACC which won't happen.

Bulldog, would you guys want to join the ACC? You give up a little bit of money short term to have a better chance to become relevant again long term. If you were to end your National Championship drought that has spanned 2 millennia, then I am not sure the money wouldn't even itself out, and would you really care anyhow?

Clemson needs to make the best choice for Clemson. We already play more games against SEC teams than most.
If the SEC survives the realignment/restructuring over the next 5-10 years, it will be in name only. I don’t expect the landscape to resemble what we’ve typically called the Power-5.
Clemson will be part of the equation, as they are an elite program.

I've never liked the SEC, but at this point, Clemson has to consider what is best for Clemson. Swofford's bumbling and lack of vision for the ACC has put the league way behind money-wise. Everything is changing, therefore there cannot be a decision made on emotions and/or devotion to the ACC. I've slept on this and it's what I'm thinking today. Lol.
