If Tony Elliott is really interested in being a head coach..

Nov 29, 2021, 11:37 AM

Would Duke be a good no pressure type school for a first time head coaching job?

Would Elliott even be interested in a school like Duke?

I think Duke would be a dead end job for TE.

Whatever choice(s) you make makes you. Choose wisely.

I agree. Duke doesn’t care about football. TE would be just about as successful as Chase Brice was there.

I could be wrong but I wouldn't expect...

schools like Duke or VT to go the coordinator route.

He's more likely to end -up somewhere like Georgia Southern, Louisiana, SMU, FIU, LaTech or Troy IMO.

If he holds-out for a HC position at a Power 5 program, he may be in for a long wait.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I would not want to follow Cutcliff. He was best thing at

Duke football since Spurrier.

No where to go but up. Build up Duke and use it as a springboard for a better job. He's not going to get a good power 5 job. He's going to have to go and prove it somewhere first.

Know who used to coach at Duke

Nov 29, 2021, 1:09 PM

Also in Gainesville, Washington DC and also in Columbia.

I think Tony is smart enough to find a G5 situation he can win and use that to become HC at a decent P5 school rather than looking at Duke.

Duke would be wise to consider someone like Will Healy, but there was a report today that said he's not on their list. That's a tough job, and ultimately comes down to how good Duke thinks they can be. The answer is probably not very good, but things with Cut were going the wrong way.
